1. CVTech Group have secured new contracts for a total value of approximately $ 50.7 million. All in all, nearly 300 employees will be asked to bring these projects to fruition.

LAYOFFS

1. Shaw Communications intends to eliminate 400 jobs in the country, or about 3 per cent of its workforce, as part of a plan to consolidate its operations.

2. Teck Resources, the Vancouver mining company, will be eliminating 600 positions across the globe, pushing off the revival of a coal mine in British Columbia and reducing its expenses.
