Imaginet heads list of best Canadian employers

Queen’s School of Business has just released its 2012 list of the top 50 Best Small and Medium Employers in Canada. In first place: Imaginet, a Winnipeg-based firm specializing in the development of computer applications.

Imaginet did rather well for itself, considering it is its first year taking part in the joint Queen’s School of Business and AonHewitt study. Second was recruiting firm Arrow Group of Companies from Scarborough, Ontario, followed by Toronto-based Achievers consulting company. Imaginet is a leading Canadian developer of talent management solutions.

For the study, Queen’s School of Business used a series of parameters assessing engagement drivers in the various participating companies. It looked at how employees described their company to people around them, their degree of loyalty and the ability of executives and managers to motivate them to contribute to business success. The average rate of engagement for the top 50 companies was 83%, falling to 61% for the other companies that didn’t make the list.

Survey data also shows that a high level of employee engagement can lead to less absenteeism, better health and decreased stress for employees, better customer relations and greater financial returns.
