January Review of Hirings and Layoffs

The tertiary sector continues to grow in importance, especially in the field of information technology, while some media groups have to adjust.

HIRINGS

1 – Air Canada Rouge has hired hundreds of flight attendants to continue its flight network development. 3- The $360 million that Aldo is investing into its digital revolution promises to create about 400 jobs at its Montreal headquarters. 4- The British company Cinesite has confirmed it is opening an office in the Montreal area. LAYOFFS

2 – A sign of the times, the media group Postmedia lays off 48 employees at its Calgary classified advertising call center. 3 – Sears is still trying to straighten out its finances by announcing a new wave of layoffs. A total of 1,600 workers will be dismissed, about half of which are in Montreal. 5 – The hotel group Rosdev has ceased its operations at the Holiday Inn Midtown located in downtown Montreal.
