The Team and the Role:

The Manager, Enterprise Productivity (Information Technology & Solutions) is a key member of the Lean and Smart Automation Team, a high performing team with the mandate to diagnose, design and implement process optimization, operating model transformation and organizational redesign across Scotiabank globally ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  The incumbent will collaborate with team members and a diverse set of stakeholders to identify and drive productivity initiatives across the Bank’s IT and related functions. The Manager ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.   The primary areas of focus are increased efficiencies, reduced costs, maximized revenues and ongoing risk mitigation while ensuring that enhancing the customer and business partner experience are at the centre of all decisions.  The incumbent is a contributing Team member who will collaborate with other team members and partners in the diagnosis, design and implementation of process level improvements optimization, operating model and organizational redesign and the introduction of Management Systems and Lean practices across Scotiabank’s IT organization and related functions. 

Key Accountabilities:

Contribute to an in-house consulting team, responsible for developing productivity solutions in a fast-paced, challenging and dynamic environment

Approach initiatives logically with a problem-solving, data-driven and results oriented mindset

Partner with Country CIO and/or Global Engineering teams to identify productivity opportunities such as efficient processes, organizational effectiveness, Management Systems, mindsets and behaviors, skills and capabilities and client Focus) by applying analytical approaches utilizing various and tools and techniques, including, but not limited to:

  • Time in and Motion Analysis
  • Demand, Flow and Capacity Analysis
  • Key Performance Indicators
  • Customer Demand Analysis (Voice of the Customer)
  • Detailed Problem Solving
  • Waste and Non Value Add Analysis

Lead and execute data analysis to identify opportunities and support in developing recommendations and solutions to drive productivity enhancements

Conduct analysis, mapping and re-engineering of business processes,

Develop hypothesis, synthesize findings, and communicate opportunities for improvement.

Develop strategies and recommendations, including business benefits and costs, implementation and training strategies/plan.

Design and prepare deliverables and presentations to communicate findings, solutions and results to senior executives

Build impactful presentation slides and decks leveraging enterprise templates

Assist with all aspects in the diagnostic, design and implementation stages by working wit in cross functional teams

Facilitate training and workshops, provide consultation to the client groups in implementing processes improvement initiatives

Provide subject matter expertise to team members and mentor junior members of the team

Manages personal development to ensure knowledge and skills related to lean/process improvement methodology are continually enhanced by:

  • Researching best practices
  • Taking courses designed around people, process and technology
  • Building relationships with internal and external partners

Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Champions a high performance environment culture and contributes to implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.

Functional Competencies:

Certified in Lean Six Sigma and/or PMP is an asset

Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, problem solving and project management skills

Work effectively in a team environment and independently as required

Working knowledge of various IT concepts (e.g., strategy, services, operating models, application development lifecycle, ITIL, Agile, etc.) is an asset

Highly proficient in analytical and presentation tools (Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint)  

Education and Experience:

5+ years of relevant experience, including cost reduction/productivity improvement expertise

Experience in technology/management consulting or a related function in industry is a must

Masters/MBA or Graduate/professional designation such as CFA/CA is an asset

Spanish fluency is highly desirable
