Rosewood Hotel Georgia is looking for a Assistant Director of Talent & Culture.

The Assistant Director of Talent & Culture will lead the day-to-day operation of the Talent and Culture and support the implementation of corporate and local human resources strategies to build and foster Relationship Hospitality in workplace culture and employee engagement. Oversee and administer Rosewood policies and standards and assist with directing, implementation and maintenance of a service and management philosophy which serves as a guide to attract, develop, manage and retain best talent. Ensure compliance with the union contract and maintain and professional relationship with hotel and union representatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities – (Key Activities)

  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards and union contract terms.
  • Support the assessment of organizational needs, developing vision-aligned talent & culture solutions, implement strategies, and execute action plans.
  • Ensure Talent & Culture services and practices follow corporate, regional and hotel policies and procedures and government regulations.
  • Support the development of Talent and Culture’s annual budget. Track actual to forecast and keep expenses within budget.
  • Act as a senior internal advisor in providing expert guidance and direction on HR policies, programs, collective agreement, talent management, employment legislation, health & safety, compensation and benefits, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Act as the main contact on behalf of the Hotel with the union, participate in grievance meetings, labor management committee.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of documentations, files, and records in accordance with applicable laws, statues, and best practices, in areas of personnel files, employee/labor relations, immigration/work permits, WorkSafe BC, return-to-work, legislative and corporate compliance, etc.
  • Support Rosewood programs related to talent acquisition, culture, onboarding to include Perfect Discovery the Calling elements, training, and development.
  • Coordinate Action Planning with departments based on Employee Engagement results.
  • Assist with full cycle recruitment and onboarding process for management and hourly positions, including job specific training and compliance training.
  • Develop and maintain current job descriptions for all hotel positions in accordance with Brand standards.
  • Monitor probationary review, annual performance appraisal, personal development plan to ensure completion and follow up.
  • Support Department Leaders in performance management, progressive discipline, employee issues, conflict resolution, workplace complaints and investigations.
  • Investigate and respond to EI, WorkSafe BC, ESA, Human Rights, etc. claims.
  • Attend and chair the monthly Health & Safety Committee meetings and follow up on recommendations and actions as required.
  • Monitor and upkeep heart-of-house associate areas and equipment.
  • Administer employee group benefits plan(s) and review invoices for payments.
  • Assist in the implementation of incentive and recognition programs.
  • Plan, communicate and organize employee engagement, recognition events/meetings – monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Establish employee activities to give back to the community.
  • Conduct and document exit interviews with all departed associates.
  • Attend designated meetings; prepare and submit all required corporate reports.
  • All other duties as required.
Job Requirements


  • Minimum five years’ experience as a Talent and Culture Manager or Director at a luxury or ultra-luxury property.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in unionized environment.
  • University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in related discipline is required.
  • Licenses & Certifications: CPHR designation or candidate working towards designation is an asset.
  • Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy; prioritize, organize and follow-up; be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment; follow directions thoroughly; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team; work with minimal supervision; maintain confidentiality of guest, associate, hotel, and company information.
  • Ability to organize tasks and assign responsibilities to subordinates; ability to educate associates to develop their knowledge and skill; thorough understanding of the training process; solid planning skills; thorough knowledge of government labor laws and regulations; thorough knowledge of benefits processing; proficiency with Microsoft Office products; thorough knowledge of budget preparation and control.
  • Required to speak, read, and write English, with fluency in other languages preferred. Communicate effectively to wide audience.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to exert physical effort in transporting 20 pounds, endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, reach up and down, remain stationary at times throughout work periods, and satisfactorily communicate with guests and co-workers to their understanding.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
