Main accountabilities include:
  • Must be able to clearly communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, and company programs.
  • Lead, manage and develop regional HR initiatives and deliverables.
  • Oversees all new hires, terminations, salary or job title changes, and issuance of employee contracts.
  • Ensure that all regional processes and procedures are aligned to and in compliance with Corporate HR standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure that all stations are in compliance with all federal, provincial, company regulations and policies.
  • Advise management on issues regarding unions such as contract negotiations, mediations, and arbitrations.
  • Advise locations across Canada on HR and Labour Relations issues.
  • Lead with developing union agreements, conducting workplace investigations, proposing LOUs and policy development.
  • Lead negotiations for multiple collective bargaining agreements with various unions including Teamsters, IAM&AW.
  • Oversee dispute resolution involving employees, management, unions and government agencies.
  • Manage grievance procedures and provide guidance to HR advisors and Operations Management
  • Stay apprised of employment law changes and industry trends in legislation.
  • Facilitate recruitment strategy to ensure recruitment targets are met.
  • Oversee Benefits Administration and conduct consultations to help reduce Benefits related costs.
  • Ensure employee files are up to standards required by the Menzies 5 Star Audit program.
  • Ensure the smooth flow of processes to increase service delivery and value.
  • Issue and maintain HR reports when required.
  • Train, mentor, and develop Human Resources Team
  • Other duties and assignments as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, CHRP designation, or working toward same.
  • 2 to 3 years' progressive experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of Canada Labour Code and Workplace Equity Program.
  • Experience with Federally regulated employers preferred.
  • Experience in the interpretation of collective agreements, related regulations, and laws, demonstrated experience in related human resources functions.
  • Hands on self-starter able to work using initiative and without supervision.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and administrative skills and is detail oriented.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with people at different levels and from different geographical and ethnic cultures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of MS Office and UltiPro HRIS.

Additional requirements:

  • Must be Canadian citizen, legal resident or hold the requisite authority to work in Canada and have a valid G license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all required security clearances.
  • When required must be able to lift to 35 lbs.
