Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Haley has been producing magnesium and aluminum castings for the aerospace industry. Located in the heart of the Ottawa Valley west of Renfrew there is an opening for a Health and Safety Coordinator. The successful incumbent be responsible for administration of a wide range of human resource programs, polices, and functions including Attendance Management, Disability Management, Return to Work (RTW) Programs, Benefits Administration, and Employee Wellness Programs ensuring compliance with government regulations, company policies and the CBAs.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Administers the Attendance Management Program
  • Oversees the STD/LTD claims process along with ensuring early and safe return to work for returning employees
  • Coordinates with the EHS department, OSI and WSIB regarding workplace injuries and to ensure that safe modified work offers have been made and lost time claims minimized
  • Oversees the accommodations process working with the employee, Occupational Health Professional, and Operations in compliance with the ORHC, AODA and any other relevant legislation
  • Administers the employee benefits program
  • Develops and maintains Employee Wellness Program
  • Assists with other HR duties as required
  • Provides support to Payroll and EHS departments as required

Position Requirements

  • Post-Secondary Education in Business Management, Human Resources, or Administration OR equivalent experience and/or training in a related role(s)
  • 3-5 years experience in a unionized environment
  • Knowledge of the Company / Union contract. Good understanding of Company Policies and Procedures and any pertinent government legislation including the Employment Standards Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, the AODA, and the CBAs
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills
  • High level of competence in all Microsoft programs
  • Extensive HRIS, SAP, T&A systems, Disability/Benefits provider portal experience
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Objective outlook and attitude
  • Time management skills
  • Self starter
  • Detail and results oriented
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality, able to handle difficult conversations
