Job Summary

The Safety director will be responsible for organizing and managing all safety programs and related compliance to all fleet Management. Reporting to the COO(chief operating officer) this role is further responsible for ensuring protocols are well executed at all terminals in Ontario.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in fleet operations.
  • Experience working with government agencies, MOE, MOL, POLICE, and local city and fire officials.
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment
  • Must possess strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to work with business operations in a safety-first culture.
  • Self-directed and decision-maker
  • Ability to handle crisis situations well.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills
  • Some travel to our Ontario terminals is required.
  • Able to effectively work with maintenance and operations management.

The Successful Candidate will:

  • Manage safety staff.
  • Knowledge of industry rules and regulations
  • Actively liaise with the maintenance department.
  • Knowledge of internal safety programs working directly with Operations Management
  • Work through regulatory audits, experience is considered an asset
  • Direct involvement with drivers
  • Dispute-resolution skills
  • Advise on the investigation and reporting of accidents, incidents, and non-conformances while making recommendations for corrective action.

Preferred

  • College/University degree
  • Certificate courses in safety Like Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP)
  • A-Z License or previous road experience.
  • Customs Knowledge would be an asset.
  • The desire for future job progression
