Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace has an exciting opportunity for a 4-month Occupational Health and Safety Assistant / Summer Student role at our manufacturing hub in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The ideal start date for this Summer Student position would be around mid March 2024, though this is tentative and subject to change.

Working closely with and reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the Occupational Health and Safety Assistant / Summer Student will play a key role in overseeing Magellan Aerospace's Health and Safety culture and programs.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and revision of safety and health policies, safe work procedures, and job hazard analysis.
  • Assist in safety orientation training for new hires.
  • Assist in monitoring and updating portals, folders, documents, and work instructions.
  • Assist in workplace investigations, recording incidents, and record keeping.
  • Assist in risk assessments and site inspections, PPE assessments, and identifying potential hazards.
  • Participate in the design, development and delivery of H&S policies and programs.
  • Perform workplace inspections and complete checklists.
  • Maintain SDS (Safety Data Sheets).

Position Requirements / Qualifications

  • Occupational Health & Safety Certificate, Diploma, or is enrolled as a student within the Occupational Health & Safety program; OR
  • Post-secondary education relating to Business or Business Administration with experience Occupational Health & Safety
  • First Aid, CPR certification would be an asset
