We are seeking top-tier talent to join our Corporate Services team and support our construction operations by applying your expertise to various Corporate Services business initiatives. About the role

Reporting functionally to the HR Director, the HR Business Partner has a key role in leading the implementation of the people strategy and activities for their client groups. This role focuses on working closely with operational leaders to align our people team initiatives with our business needs. This is a highly collaborative role that requires working with a variety of stakeholders within our operations, corporate services, and broader people team. The HR Business Partner leads and manages a team of HR Advisors who contribute to the execution of the people strategy.

As a HR Business Partner at Graham you will:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop, lead, and manage the delivery of the people initiatives; ensuring they are aligned with our business strategy and Graham's broader people strategy.
  • Work closely with the broader people team to evaluate current programs, processes, and activities and make recommendations for enhancements.
  • Analyze trends within regional markets and the construction sector to proactively influence our people strategy and programs.
  • Translate broad strategies into clear tactical plans.

Business Leadership

  • Develop trusted relationships with divisional leaders to understand business needs and influence people strategies.
  • Act as a key point of contact for divisional leadership and HR Advisors regarding people program activities to ensure consistency across the divisions.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency and reprioritize work based on a changing business environment.
  • Break down complex people issues by asking questions and assessing business risk.

Technical Leadership

  • Lead employee life cycle projects and the annual compensation review while applying sound best practice principles.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, including investigations and complaints.
  • Partner with our in-house legal counsel, maintain a knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.

People Leadership

  • Lead and develop a team of HR Advisors to partner with our business.
  • Work closely with leaders and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Collaborate with the broader people team and corporate service partners to ensure programs and initiatives are aligned with operational priorities.
  • Promote an environment of shared decision-making, while assigning accountability for results.
  • Ability to identify team members' expertise and engage the correct SMEs from the broader team as required.

Cultural Leadership

Qualifications/Experience

  • 7-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Completion of a university bachelor program in a technical, business, or scientific field of study; a degree in Business or Human Resources
  • Professional HR Designation (ex. CPHR, SHRM) is considered an asset.
  • Solid business acumen, including knowledge of business functions, regulatory agencies, labour markets, and economics.
  • Experience with implementation of enterprise-wide people strategies.
  • An aptitude for relationship building and influencing decision making.
  • Ability to apply change management best practices.
  • Ability to work with a variety of employees and leaders, across multiple geographies and physical work locations.
  • Experience in managing complex HR legal matters.
  • Proficiency with SAP and MS Office Suite.
