The Role

We are a leading organization committed to prioritizing Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards across our operations in Canada. As part of our ongoing commitment to excellence, we are seeking a dedicated professional to join our team as a Health, Safety, and Environment Business Partner. Reporting to the HSE Director, this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the implementation and maintenance of our HSE Management System, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

As a Health, Safety, and Environment Business Partner, you will collaborate closely with business leaders, HSE team members, and stakeholders to prevent incidents in the workplace and promote a positive HSE culture across multiple sites in Canada. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in HSE, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

The ideal candidate will have the following background, skills and attributes:

  • Degree, diploma, or certificate from a post-secondary accredited institution in environment, health, and safety.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in health, safety, and environment roles.
  • Strong knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Acts and Regulations in Ontario and Quebec.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and influence others.
  • Intermediate level experience with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Professional designation or certification (e.g., CRST, NCSO) considered an asset.
  • Internal auditor certification (e.g., COR, ISO) considered an asset.
  • Field experience on construction projects considered an asset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a subject matter expert on HSE matters to ensure compliance with provincial legislation, client requirements and industry standards.
  • Establish effective communication channels with internal and external stakeholders to promote HSE initiatives.
  • Provide strategic guidance on HSE matters to business line managers, supervisors, and project personnel.
  • Assist in the development and review of project risk assessments, emergency plans, and related HSE documentation.
  • Support the incident management process by leading and/or participating in incident investigations and supporting workers' compensation reporting and return-to-work processes.
  • Conduct worksite inspections and audits at project sites and offices, with travel required.
  • Identify training needs and support the development and/or delivery of training materials to address gaps in knowledge.
  • Develop safe work practices and procedures in collaboration with project teams.
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of audit programs such as COR, ISNetworld, and others.
