Senior Labour Relations/Business Partner

Full Time 1 Permanent Opportunity

Position Summary and Responsibility:

The Senior Labour Relations/ Business Partner is a key member of the Human Resources team and provides guidance and expert advice to their clients on various ER, LR and HR issues. This is an exciting time to join us, we are growing and expanding our programs and services and looking for people who are collaborative, driven, and passionate about patient care outcomes and building a great place to work through Human Resource practices. This role works on-site.

Provides Labour Relations and other HR consulting, advice, and planning services to support the Leadership Team

Acts as a trusted advisor and business partner that influences change and delivers various solutions to enhance and improve patient care outcomes through human resources.

Supports various Labour Relations matters, grievances, manage Labour Management Committees, CUPE, ONA, OPSEU

Delivers subject matter expertise and guidance on matters involving workplace violence, workplace discrimination and harassment, return-to-work/modified work in collaboration with HR partners (i.e., occupational health and safety)

Leads employee grievance process, conduct complex/sensitive investigations, and dispute resolution management.

Assists recruiters with sourcing and interviewing as needed to support exceptional service delivery to clients.

Represents the organization at various external events, careers fairs etc.

Conducts investigations, provides recommendations for employee discipline and terminations.

Analyzes data to identify trends (e.g., exit interviews, attendance management, grievances etc.

Develops and implement HR policies, procedures, and programs in collaboration with stakeholder.

Develops and deliver training programs for LR & HR

Supports Workplace Accommodation Process as needed

Participates in Joint Health and Safety Committee

Qualifications:

Degree in HR Management or Labour/Industrial Relations

Must have minimum of 10 years’ experience in Human Resources and Employee & Labour Relations

Demonstrated knowledge and proven ability to provide advice to clients on the application of the Ontario Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, Labour Relations Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act Workplace Safety & Insurance Act.

Must also have experience in areas of employment law, grievance handling, recruitment, accommodation/modified work placements, conflict resolution, and conducting various workplace investigations.

HR experience within the healthcare sector is strongly preferred experience working with ONA, CUPE and OPSEU an asset

Strong skills in investigation, coaching, negotiation, consultation, mediation, conflict resolution, critical thinking, prioritization, problem solving and relationship management.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Computer skills (HRIS, Outlook, Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

Ability to travel to Scarborough (McNicol & Victoria Park) location on an occasional basis to support the effective and safe operation of this satellite site.

Certified Canadian Human Resources Leader (CHRL) certification an asset

Knowledge of Change Management an asset
