Specialized Programs Overview
Generating Opportunities for Learning Disabilities (Project GOLD), part of the JVS Disability Programs, is designed to help unemployed /under-employed individuals with learning disabilities and/or learning challenges (including ADHD), ASD, and Mental Health concerns to find and maintain competitive employment.

The ASD Job Readiness Project is delivered to youth (ages 18-30) with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or previous diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome. The goal of the project is to connect clients with meaningful employment opportunities and provide job coaching to help clients obtain paid employment.

We're looking for someone who will:
• Provide on-site expert knowledge in employment services to persons with learning disabilities, ADHD, ASD and/or Mental Health Conduct to support Scarborough multi-disciplinary team
• Conduct orientation and intake as well as assess clients to develop individual employment action plans
• Apply knowledge of employment-related issues, adult learning approaches and accommodation analysis strategies to clients seeking employment
• Provide case management and one-to-one employment counselling to persons with disabilities a
• Connect clients with job development services while providing support as needed
• Develop strategies and program alternatives that fit with the client's disability, have knowledge of transferable skills analysis
• Develop and facilitate workshops on such topics as personality dimensions, career decision-making, learning style, labour market and pre-employment.
• Liaise with community, referring community supports and potential clients to market the program and to make recommendations for skill development and other appropriate interventions
• Prepare case management documentation, reports, perform data entry and maintain complete participant records and case notes
• Provide employment counselling support to Employment Source program when needed

Flexible hours / evenings / weekends may be required for this position.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree or Post Graduate Certificate in Counselling or Social Services with placement experience, or a related degree with 3-5 years of counselling experience. International degrees must be evaluated for Canadian equivalency.
• Extensive knowledge of learning disabilities, ADHD, ASD, and mental health challenges and their impact on employment
• Strong counselling skills
• Experience facilitating groups for a range learning styles
• Strong problem-solving and decision making skills
• Strong collaboration skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Computer literate; the ability to learn systems used by the agency (ie. SalesForce)
• A clear Police Vulnerable Sector check is required for this position

Our ideal candidate will also have:
• Strong knowledge of adult learning approaches
• Certification form an institution, such as VRA Canada or CVRP
