Responsibilities

  • Ensure the corporate OHS management system is implemented and help improve it.
  • Advise employees and managers on OHS management.
  • Develop and share recommendations.
  • Provide leadership to local OHS committees.
  • Guide the selection, design and delivery of OHS training activities.
  • Support OHS risk analyses and associated controls.
  • Help draft reports for the OHS Management committee and OHS management.
  • Provide support to internal clients and help meet OHS bidding requirements (qualifications, proposals, skills, etc.).
  • Coordinate the drafting and delivery of OHS information and communications.
  • Serve as a reference for compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Carry out corporate audits.
  • Coordinate internal projects independently.
  • Collaborate on ad hoc projects with various stakeholders.
  • Carry out complex incident investigations.
  • Perform event investigations and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Develop and provide OHS training.


Skills

  • Experience with training and complex investigations
  • Experience as an internal OHS trainer
  • Knowledge of OHS and positive behaviour-based safety management systems
  • Knowledge of critical risks (energy, working at heights, chemicals, vehicles, confined spaces) and the associated means of control

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, college diploma or university certificate combined with proven experience
  • Eight years of relevant OHS experience in heavy industry, ideally in the mining, energy or oil sectors
  • In-depth knowledge of best OHS practices and the OHS management system
  • Available to travel periodically to our offices, particularly in Ontario and Montréal, and to client sites, as required by the organization
  • Able to carry out OHS audits in BBA offices as well as at client sites where our employees work
  • High degree of autonomy and a continuous improvement approach
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office
  • Bilingual (English and French)
  • Asset: Knowledge of Spanish
  • Asset: Knowledge of the regulatory environment and laws in force in the United States and abroad
