Position Summary

Sofina Foods, Burlington, is offering a unique opportunity to gain valuable butchery skills. Through our on-site training program, you could master the art of meat butchery within 4 to 8 weeks. At the end of this training, you would be eligible to work in the knife skilled positions in our facility and build your career. The working schedule will be Monday to Friday and start at 6AM in the morning. The starting rate for this position will be $19 an hour and will increase based on the job you will be doing after completing knife school - anywhere from $19.65-$22.50 an hour. Reporting to the Floor Supervisor, Butchers will be responsible for trimming meat to Company specifications. There are hundreds of specifications to learn in order to butcher professionally. Our on-site training Supervisor will provide you with world class skills.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds is required;
  • Ability to stand for extended hours;
  • Comfortable working in a Pork processing facility, handling raw meat;
  • Comfortable in either a cold temperatures (4-10 degrees Celsius);
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Willingness to learn how to properly use knives and other equipment
