The Opportunity
McElhanney Ltd. has an opportunity for a Junior Civil Engineer to join our team in Nanaimo, BC. In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide innovative and integrated consulting services to our public and private sector clients. In addition, this position provides a mix of office and field work, providing you the opportunity to support projects in various capacities.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Provide design support for various infrastructure and land development projects including municipal engineering, road works, utility and facility upgrades
  • Assist in the preparation of approval, tender and contract documents
  • Complete field inspections to monitor the quality and progress of the work being performed
  • Prepare and adhere to site-specific health and safety plans
  • Opportunity to provide support to other departments (survey and environmental engineering) to learn about and develop a holistic approach to project execution
  • Work with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets, and quality control standards are achieved and maintained.
What You’ll Bring:
  • Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution with 1-4 years of related work experience
  • Construction monitoring or field experience is an asset, but not required
  • Registration in good standing as an engineer-in-training (EIT) in British Columbia, or eligibility to be registered. “The successful candidate will be directly supervised by a professional engineer (P.Eng.) registered in BC.”
  • High productivity, attention to detail, effective verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to work well in a team environment
