Your Team:
Join Flair’s Human Resources team, where trusted partnerships and practical people solutions support leaders and employees across the organization. Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources Operations, the People Business Partner (PBP) provides both strategic and day-to-day human resources guidance within an assigned portfolio. This role partners closely with leaders to support business performance through effective people practices and organizational support.
The People Business Partner provides guidance on employee relations, labour relations, collective agreement interpretation and application, organizational effectiveness, and change management. Working collaboratively with leaders and cross-functional teams, the role supports informed people decisions that align with business objectives, company policies, and the applicable collective agreement. Bilingual fluency in English and French is required to effectively support a diverse operational workforce.
A Day in the Life:
- Work closely with the HR team and business leaders to support the execution of people strategies related to retention, engagement, and career development.
- Collaborate with Centres of Excellence, including Wellness, Talent, and Learning, to deliver integrated HR solutions that support business and employee needs.
- Provide coaching and guidance to leaders at all levels on employee and labour relations matters, including performance management, progressive discipline, attendance management, accommodations, and other workplace issues.
- Support change management initiatives by working with leaders to implement plans, monitor progress, and ensure project objectives are achieved.
- Provide subject matter expertise on internal HR policies and programs, Canada Labour Code interpretation, collective bargaining agreement application, and other applicable employment legislation.
- Lead investigative meetings with leaders relating to interpersonal conflict, misconduct, policy breaches, and other workplace matters, as required.
- Work closely with leaders to identify talent gaps and support employee development and succession planning initiatives in collaboration with the Talent team.
- Ensure the consistent delivery and implementation of company-wide HR programs, practices, and processes across the supported portfolio.
- Respond to employee and leader inquiries on a broad range of HR matters in a timely and professional manner.
- Build effective working relationships across the business to support positive employee relations and a consistent employee experience.
- Monitor trends and recurring issues within the supported portfolio and provide recommendations to leaders on appropriate actions and opportunities for improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the company from time to time.
What You Bring to the Role:
The preferred candidate should exemplify Flair's core values: honesty, efficiency, accountability, and respect, while demonstrating success in previous roles. Additionally, we are seeking individuals who possess:
- Education:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources, Employment Law, Labour/Industrial Relations or related field required
- CPHR Designation is considered as an asset.
- Experience:
- Minimum of four (4) – six (6) years of experience working in a Human Resources Generalist or Human Resources Business Partner capacity is required.
- Experience partnering with leaders to support people-related decisions, employee relations, and business objectives is required.
- Experience working with a unionized workforce and supporting union-related matters is required.
- Experience applying human resources practices and the Canada Labour Code in a workplace setting is required.
- Experience supporting employee relations, labour relations, policy interpretation, and workplace investigations is preferred.
- Airline experience is considered an asset.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong business acumen and the ability to partner effectively with leaders to support business priorities and people outcomes.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, coach, and support decision-making across all levels of the organization.
- Well-developed conflict resolution and workplace investigation skills.
- Ability to manage complex employee and labour relations matters within a unionized environment.
- Sound judgment, discretion, and strong decision-making capability.
- Resilient and adaptable, with the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic operational environment.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Data-informed mindset, with the ability to interpret trends and translate insights into practical action.
- Ability to build credibility and establish trusted working relationships with leaders and employees across the business.
- Fluency in both French and English is required, with the ability to support employee and leader interactions, manage employee and labour relations matters, and prepare or review HR documentation in both languages.
- Requirements:
- Clear criminal record check and satisfactory employment references.
- Ability to maintain a valid Passport to accommodate work travel.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without restriction.
