About the team
We’re a team of doers who believe compliance should support the business, not stand in its way. We work side by side with teams across nesto Group to design smart, compliance-based processes that are clear, practical, and easy to follow. We’re hands-on, collaborative, and focused on getting things right, not just from a regulatory perspective, but also in a way that makes sense for how the business actually operates. This role reports directly to the SVP, Trust & Safety and will work closely with teams across nesto Group. If you’re motivated by impact and thrive in a fast-moving environment where you can take ownership and drive meaningful change, this role is for you.
About the role
As Director of AML & Compliance, you'll take ownership of nesto Group’s established compliance program and lead its ongoing evolution. Your focus will be on keeping policies, processes, and controls effective, scalable, and aligned with our business as it grows. You'll also be responsible for maintaining strong regulatory relationships, supporting audit and exam readiness, and making sure our program continues to meet regulatory expectations with clarity, confidence, and professionalism.
In this role, you will
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight of nesto Group’s AML/ATF and regulatory compliance program across all business lines and reporting entities.
- Ensure ongoing audit and examination readiness, and act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies.
- Provide strategic oversight of key compliance processes and ensure they evolve alongside the business.
- Oversee the execution of regulatory reporting, including suspicious transaction reports and enhance due diligence.
- Lead the development and ongoing refinement of AML/ATF policies and procedures, ensuring they are practical, up-to-date, and aligned with business activities and regulatory expectations.
- Define and report on key compliance metrics to executive leadership and internal governance committees.
- Champion compliance training and awareness programs that drive clarity, accountability, and confidence across nesto Group.
Who we're looking for
You're a doer and a leader. You have deep expertise in AML/ATF compliance and know what a strong program looks like, but more importantly, you know how to run one in a fast-moving environment. You're comfortable with complexity, confident making decisions, and you bring both strategic perspective and executional excellence. You care about the details, but you don't get stuck in them. You want to make things better, and you know how to bring people with you.
You’ll be successful if you have
- 5+ years of experience in AML/ATF and regulatory compliance, ideally in fintech or multi-product line environments.
- Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) certification.
- A track record of owning, managing, and evolving compliance programs.
- Strong working knowledge of the PCMLTFA as well as FINTRAC guidelines and experience applying them practically.
- Experience overseeing regulatory reporting and acting as a point of contact with regulators.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially with cross-functional and senior stakeholders.
- A hands-on mindset. You’re just as comfortable executing as you are leading.
What we offer
- Contribute directly to shaping the experience that modernizes the Canadian mortgage industry.
- Take advantage of nesto's employee mortgage program that provides our employees with the best, exclusive, preferred low rates.
- Benefit from a generous time-off policy including 4 weeks vacation per year.
- Enjoy a premium benefits plan fully paid by nesto, including a top-class insurance plan and unlimited access to telemedicine and mental health service, for you and your family from day 1.
- Access to an annual health and wellness budget.
- Take your work internationally with our temporary international work program.
- Seize the possibility of working in a hybrid mode. We own beautiful offices in downtown Montreal (Peel Station) and our spaces are dog-friendly.
