About the role

Heritage Office Furnishings is one of BC's leading office furniture dealers, helping organizations across the Lower Mainland create workplaces that work. With a team of 250+ dedicated professionals, we take pride in a culture built on collaboration, quality, and genuine care for our people. We're growing ? and we're looking for someone to grow with us.

We're looking for an experienced and people-focused HR Coordinator to join our HR team in a broad, hands-on role. You'll be a key point of contact for employees and leaders across the organization ? supporting everything from full-cycle recruitment and employee relations to health and safety compliance and HR reporting. This is a role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes initiative, and genuinely enjoys making a difference in the day-to-day experience of the people around them.

  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns across all departments.
  • Support progressive discipline processes and prepare related documentation.
  • Administer the attendance management program and monitor patterns proactively.
  • Champion monthly cultural initiatives, recognition programs, and milestone celebrations to strengthen employee engagement.
  • Coordinate background checks and maintain a database of employee clearances.

Talent Management

  • Own the full-cycle recruitment process for hourly and salaried positions ? from sourcing to offer.
  • Partner with operations leaders to deliver effective onboarding and ensure new hires are set up for success.
  • Draft offer letters, employment addendums, and supporting documents.
  • Participate in probationary and termination meetings and prepare all required documentation.
  • Conduct exit interviews and surface insights to support retention.

HR Administration

  • Maintain accurate employee records in Dayforce HCM and support system administration.
  • Prepare HR correspondence, employment letters, and policy documentation.
  • Respond to external agency inquiries from WorkSafeBC, Service Canada, and ICBC.
  • Assist with policy reviews, employee handbook updates, and visa expiry tracking.

Health, Wellness & Safety

  • Chair the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee and ensure follow-through on action items.
  • Administer the OHS program and coordinate required training to maintain WorkSafeBC compliance.
  • Manage the return-to-work process for injured workers, including Recover at Work proposals and weekly documentation.
  • Conduct the annual OHS program review and maintain all related records.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Prepare weekly holiday reports and monthly HR and safety statistics for the HR Manager.
  • Contribute HR updates to the company newsletter and internal communications.
  • Support HR projects and initiatives as they arise.

Required Skills & Experience

  • A degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field ? or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of progressive experience in an HR coordination or generalist role.
  • Solid working knowledge of BC employment legislation including the ESA, Workers Compensation Act, and Human Rights Code.
  • Experience with Dayforce HCM or a comparable HRIS system is strongly preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Strong attention to detail and a high standard for accuracy and data integrity.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to navigate sensitive conversations with professionalism.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to manage competing priorities with ease.
  • Ability to travel between company sites as required
  • Working towards a CPHR designation as an asset
