Residents enjoy an exceptional quality of life, with kilometers of spectacular ocean shoreline, brilliant beaches, parks and greenspace, quaint tree-lined streets and vibrant, boutique villages just beyond their doorsteps.
Join our team at the District of Oak Bay as a Senior Human Resources Advisor and play a key role in supporting a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture. Reporting to the Director, People Safety & Compensation, the Senior Human Resources Advisor provides strategic, advisory, and operational human resources services across the organization.

The successful candidate brings strong HR advisory experience, with the ability to support and influence managers on complex HR matters in a unionized environment. They are skilled in interpreting and applying collective agreements, employment legislation, and HR policies consistently across the organization, and demonstrate sound judgment in employee and labour relations, including performance management, conflict resolution, investigations, and disability and accommodation matters.
They have experience supporting recruitment and workforce planning, job evaluation, organizational reviews, and classification processes, and are comfortable delivering training, analyzing HR trends, and contributing to organizational development, employee engagement, and change initiatives. The role requires strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and analytical skills, with the ability to build effective relationships, provide high-quality service, and maintain confidentiality.
An undergraduate degree in a related field is required, along with a CPHR designation preferred and a minimum of five (5) years experience delivering human resources services, preferably in a unionized public-sector environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a supportive and collaborative work environment, continued career and professional development opportunities, employee engagement events, work-life balance, and a staff membership.
