As our organization continues to grow, we are seeking a passionate and motivated volunteer human resources manager to help build and support a high-performing volunteer team that advances our mission.
Position Details Position: Volunteer Human Resources Manager Employment Type: Volunteer (Unpaid) Work Arrangement: Remote Commitment: Part-Time (10–15 hours per week) Duration: 6 months to 1 year (renewable based on performance and organizational needs)
About the Role The volunteer human resources manager will lead CYBC's human resources and volunteer management functions by overseeing recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and performance management. This role is ideal for an HR professional or aspiring HR leader looking to gain meaningful leadership experience while contributing to an international non-profit organization. Working closely with the executive team and department leaders, you will help develop HR strategies, strengthen organizational culture, support volunteer development, and establish effective HR policies and processes.
Key Responsibilities Lead volunteer recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding activities. Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, and volunteer guidelines. Coordinate volunteer orientation, engagement, and retention initiatives. Maintain confidential volunteer records and HR documentation. Support performance management, feedback, and recognition programs. Identify training needs and coordinate professional development opportunities. Advise leadership on workforce planning and organizational development. Foster a positive, collaborative, and inclusive volunteer culture. Support conflict resolution and employee/volunteer relations when required. Collaborate with department leaders to ensure staffing needs are effectively met. Recommend improvements to HR systems and organizational processes.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred). Previous experience in human resources, recruitment, talent acquisition, or volunteer management. Strong knowledge of HR best practices, recruitment, onboarding, and employee engagement. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and time-management abilities. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Comfortable working independently in a remote environment. Knowledge of Canadian employment standards is an asset. CHRP, CPHR, or equivalent HR certification is considered an asset. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. Fluency in English is required; French and/or Arabic is considered an asset.
