Title Senior Accounting Lead
Report To Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Summary GEO Morphix is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Senior Accounting Lead to manage payroll processing, support Human Resources, and Accounting operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, processing payroll for employees, supporting benefits administration, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the company's financial operations.
This position requires strong analytical skills, a high degree of accuracy, confidentiality, and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple business units.
Position Details
Pay: Min = $70,000.00 annually, Max = $90,000.00 annually
Employment Type: Full-time, salary
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week
Work Location(s): 36 Main Street N, Campbellville, ON, and 593 Hanlon Creek Boulevard, Guelph, ON, N1C 0B3
Department: Administration and Business Support
Travel for Work: Occasional travel for client and vendor meetings
Work Arrangement: 5 days per week in office

Job Duties Payroll Administration
Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on schedule for salaried and hourly employees
Maintain employee payroll records, deductions, benefits, RRSP contributions, and vacation accruals
Review and validate timesheets, expense reimbursements, overtime, and payroll adjustments
Ensure compliance with applicable provincial employment standards and payroll legislation
Review payroll remittances and other statutory obligations with payroll service provider
Administer Records of Employment (ROEs), verify T4 calculations, and support year-end payroll reconciliations with payroll service provider
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, deductions, and compensation matters
Coordinate payroll-related information with Human Resources and Senior Management
Maintain confidentiality of employee documents and financial information
Accounting
Process accounts payable transactions and coordinate payments with internal teams
Perform bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations
Maintain accurate financial records
Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting requirements
Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end HST reporting
Assist with cash flow, monitoring, budgeting, and financial analysis activities
Develop and maintain working relationships with corporate partners such as senior banking, insurance, and ADP representatives, and external accountants
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Support preparation of financial statements and working papers for year-end analysis for external accountants and Senior Management
Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements
Commit to the integrity and security of the accounting system
Identify opportunities to improve payroll and accounting processes and efficiencies
Benefits and Administration
Support administration of employee benefit programs and group insurance plans
Assist with onboarding and offboarding payroll-related activities
Support Administrative, Human Resources, and Health & Safety reporting requirements as needed
Requirements
Degree or diploma in Payroll, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll, finance, accounting, or similar field
Experience working in a professional services, engineering, environmental consulting, or project-based organization is considered an asset
Obtained or working towards an accounting or payroll designations, or similar
Proficiency in QuickBooks and ADP
Familiarity with time and billing software is an asset (e.g., BigTime)
Strong proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Time management skills, with attention to detail
Self-motivated and results driven, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team environment
Strong and proactive communication skills when dealing with employees and stakeholders
High level of integrity and confidentiality
Valid G Class driver’s license and access to reliable vehicle
