Job Summary
The incumbent plays a key role in the development, implementation, and administration of compensation programs by contributing to compensation projects and annual review processes. This role supports the Compensation team through in-depth market analyses that identify industry trends and emerging compensation practices, enabling informed and strategic decision-making. The role also supports executive compensation management activities.
Main Responsibilities
Compensation Analysis and Reporting

Conduct various compensation analyses to support effective decision-making and provide interpretation of results and trends

Provide guidance and compensation recommendations for external hires and appointments, international and cross-border cases, systemic issues, and other complex matters

Support the resolution of escalated inquiries and requests from People Services

Provide direct support for compensation reporting and disclosures

Collaborate with the Managers, Compensation on additional ad hoc compensation requests
Job Evaluation and Structure and Pay Equity Compliance

Participate in the job evaluation process

Support the maintenance of the grade structure system and the job evaluation process

Provide direct support for pay equity compliance, including data analysis, coordination, committee participation, and reporting

Support the development and implementation of a job architecture
Compensation Benchmarks, Surveys, and Annual Salary Review

Participate in general and market-specific compensation surveys to ensure alignment with market practices and trends

Support the Managers, Compensation in annual benchmarking and compression reviews

Provide support for annual compensation budget preparation and the year-end compensation cycle

Provide support in the management of various compensation plans and projects
Working Conditions
The role operates under standard office working conditions with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday and is eligible to participate in CN’s hybrid work model. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
Requirements
Experience
Compensation Management
- 3–5 years of experience in compensation, Human Resources, or a related field
Education/Certification/Designation
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Mathematics, or an equivalent field

Certified Human Resources Professional (CPHR)*
-
Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)*
-
Any of the above designations would be considered an asset

Knowledge of Systems, Applications and Procedures (SAP), Tableau, and Power BI*
