INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS MANAGER ๐ Edmonton, AB (Onsite) ๐ Contract: August 17, 2026 โ December 15, 2027 ๐ Schedule: Monday to Thursday | 40 Hours/Week ๐ฒ Pay Rate: Up to $107/hour + 4% Vacation Pay ๐๏ธ Industry: Heavy Industrial Construction Lead Labour Relations on a Major Industrial Construction Project We are seeking an experienced Industrial Relations Manager to join the Construction Site Management Team on a large-scale industrial construction project in Edmonton, Alberta. Reporting to the Project Director and Construction Director, you will serve as the primary advisor on labour and industrial relations matters, providing leadership and strategic guidance to ensure workforce stability, contractor compliance, and strong relationships across unions, contractors, employees, and project stakeholders. This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned labour relations professional with extensive experience in heavy industrial construction and unionized environments. What You'll Be Doing โ Administer and ensure compliance with Collective Agreements, Project Labour Agreements (PLAs), labour legislation, and employment standards. โ Act as the key liaison between project leadership, contractors, unions, employees, and regulatory agencies. โ Lead and support labour negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and dispute resolution activities. โ Manage grievance processes and proactively address labour relations issues before they impact project productivity. โ Build and maintain strong working relationships with Building Trades Unions and workforce representatives. โ Support workforce planning initiatives to ensure labour stability and project success. โ Develop and implement labour relations policies, workforce programs, and communication strategies. โ Advise leadership on labour risks, jurisdictional disputes, work stoppages, and workforce concerns. โ Prepare labour reports, workforce metrics, and strategic recommendations for senior management. What We're Looking For Required Experience โ๏ธ 20+ years of experience in heavy industrial construction โ๏ธ 10+ years of labour relations experience supporting construction trade unions, contractors, or major industrial projects โ๏ธ Extensive experience with: Collective Agreements Project Labour Agreements (PLAs) Grievance administration Labour negotiations Workforce planning Dispute resolution Education โ๏ธ Postsecondary education in: Industrial Relations Human Resources Business Administration Law Labour Studies Or a related discipline โ๏ธ Labour Relations or HR certifications are considered an asset Key Skills & Expertise ๐น Collective Bargaining & Negotiations ๐น Labour Relations Strategy ๐น Contractor Workforce Compliance ๐น Grievance & Conflict Resolution ๐น Stakeholder Management ๐น Employment Standards & Labour Legislation ๐น Workforce Planning ๐น Leadership & Communication ๐น Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) Success in This Role Means โ Strong labour-management relationships โ Effective administration of Collective Agreements and PLAs โ Timely resolution of grievances and disputes โ Contractor compliance with labour requirements โ Workforce stability and minimized labour disruptions โ Compliance with labour legislation, agreements, and project requirements =Interested?
