The Advisor is an onsite role that focuses on the real moments that shape our people, our culture, and how we work. From recruitment to engagement initiatives to employee relations and everything in between, your impact will be immediate, tangible and visible.
What Does Your Success Look Like? Managers value your HR advice and feel supported to manage their teams with confidence. Employees feel heard, informed, and supported. NVD is compliant with employment legislation and policy. The everyday HR work is quietly solid. Things are organized, accurate, and reliably followed through. You lead and contribute to culture and engagement initiatives that strengthen the employee experience. You strengthen NVD’s workforce and community presence through partnerships, and participation in recruitment events. You model our values of drive, rigour, and kindness in every interaction, and hold others accountable to do the same.
What You Bring to The Role Experience: you are an HR generalist who has provided hands-on advice, and support to both managers and employees across a broad range of HR functions. Genuine interest in HR: you have a real curiosity and care for the work itself and the impact of HR decisions - not just a job for the sake of a job. HR application: you apply employment legislation, policies, templates, and processes consistently. Highly relational and approachable: you are warm, genuine, and trusted. Judgment and reasoning: you thoughtfully assess situations, consider context and impact, and balance empathy with obligations. Reliability: you meet commitments and are trusted to complete work independently. Influence: you support and encourage consistent, fair people practices without formal authority. Continuous improvement: you improve HR processes as the function matures, bringing practical ideas and a flexible approach.

Job requirements: Infrequent travel to Yukon communities.
Employment conditions: Valid driver’s license required to attend meetings and engage with employees across multiple Whitehorse locations.
