Where You Will Be Working
Located in the heart of downtown Ottawa at our Contract Management Office (CMO) serves as the hub for corporate and contract management activities supporting operations across Canada's North. Working alongside a diverse team of professionals, you'll contribute to the delivery of critical services in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
In keeping with our commitment to northern communities and Indigenous employment, priority consideration will be given to qualified Inuit beneficiaries, including those enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement, Inuvialuit Final Agreement, and Nunatsiavut Land Claims Agreement. As an HR Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting recruitment, onboarding, employee inquiries, HR administration, and compliance activities while working closely with employees, leaders, and external partners. You'll contribute to meaningful HR initiatives, gain exposure to a variety of HR functions, and help deliver a positive employee experience across the organization.
What You'll Do
Support full-cycle recruitment activities including job posting, candidate screening, interview coordination, reference checks, and pre-employment requirements. Independently coordinate recruitment activities for entry-level and high-volume positions. Prepare and administer offer letters, new hire documentation, and onboarding requirements while ensuring completion within established timelines. Maintain accurate candidate and employee records within the HRIS and Applicant Tracking System (ATS). Support onboarding and offboarding activities, including processing employee transactions and required documentation. Assist with benefits administration, employee changes, leave management, and other HR transactions. Serve as a first point of contact for routine HR inquiries and provide professional, timely support to employees and candidates. Prepare employment verification letters, employee communications, HR reports, recruitment metrics, and audit documentation. Support HR projects, policy updates, continuous improvement initiatives, and other activities that contribute to organizational objectives. Maintain employee files and ensure HR documentation is accurate, organized, confidential, and compliant.
What You Bring
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources or a related field. Minimum two (2) years of experience in Human Resources, payroll, or a related HR support role Experience working with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS); ADP Workforce Now experience is considered an asset. CHRP designation, or progress toward a recognized HR designation, is considered an asset. Strong knowledge of employment legislation, HR practices, and employee lifecycle processes. Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities with strong attention to detail. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships across all levels of the organization. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience preparing reports and maintaining accurate records. Self-motivated, resourceful, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team. A customer-service mindset with a commitment to delivering a positive employee and candidate experience.
