Humans of HR has been exclusively engaged by a global organization to recruit a strategic Head of Global Benefits who will serve as the internal Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for leading the design, governance, and optimization of the company’s global health, disability, wellness, pension/retirement, and time-off/leaves programs.
In this high-impact role, the successful candidate will act as the enterprise expert overseeing the planning and delivery of benefits programs across North America, Europe, and APAC. The focus will be on maintaining consistency, integrity, and alignment in program administration worldwide while driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive global benefits strategy, including governance frameworks, annual program reviews, renewals, and redesign initiatives aimed at optimizing the overall employee value proposition.
- Perform detailed market and utilization analyses (cost, participation, demographic trends, and other metrics) to identify opportunities and support data-driven decision-making.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to HR, Finance, Legal, and senior leadership by preparing clear presentations and actionable recommendations on new plans, market expansions, program enhancements, policy updates, and enabling technologies, while leading successful implementation.
- Ensure full compliance with all applicable legislation, regulations, and reporting requirements across jurisdictions (including ACA, 401(k) audits, Form 5500, FMLA, and equivalent obligations in other regions). Proactively monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on existing programs.
- Define and manage vendor strategy and performance standards; resolve service issues, negotiate contracts and improvements, and maintain up-to-date documentation and controls.
- Lead the development and delivery of effective benefits communication and education strategies to enhance employee understanding, engagement, and satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 12-15+ years of progressive experience in benefits management, or a Master’s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated expertise managing Canadian and U.S. benefits and retirement plans. Working knowledge of benefits programs in other global regions (design, delivery, and compliance) is a strong asset.
- Proven ability to work autonomously while managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Superior financial and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex benefits data and translate insights into compelling recommendations and presentations for stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a track record of building strong collaborative relationships across HR, Finance, senior leadership, and cross-functional teams.

On offer is a base salary between 140,000- 170,000 plus benefits.
