Westland Insurance Group Ltd is growing and has a new opportunity for a Benefits Specialist in Surrey, BC at our King George Hub office (hybrid).

Expected Compensation
The expected hiring range for this role is $65,600 – $82,000, based on a 35-hour work week. Actual salary will depend on qualifications, experience, market conditions, and internal equity.

As a Benefits Specialist, you will act as a trusted advisor and key contributor to the execution, optimization, and ongoing evolution of Westland’s total rewards programs. This role plays a critical part in delivering a seamless, compliant, and employee-centric benefits experience while ensuring programs are effectively administered, aligned with organizational strategy, and support attraction, retention, and employee wellbeing. This role is accountable for ensuring accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement of benefits processes while proactively identifying and resolving issues that impact the employee experience.

Why we’ll love You:
- 5+ years of progressive experience in benefits administration, total rewards, or a related HR function
- Deep experience in benefits administration, with strong knowledge of compliance, governance, disability management, retirement and savings programs, including RRSP and 401(k) administration, in a multi-provincial environment
- Highly detail-oriented and analytical, with advanced Excel skills and a proven ability to manage data, audits, reconciliations, reporting, and HRIS systems like Dayforce accurate
- A professional and empathetic approach to employee support, with confidence handling complex inquiries and escalations while maintaining strong relationships with vendors and external partners
- A proactive and solutions-focused mindset, with a track record of identifying opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls, support organizational growth and acquisition-related transitions, and enhance the employee experience
- Strong cross-functional collaborator, contributing strategic insights that support the ongoing evolution of total rewards programs, employee wellbeing initiatives, and attraction and retention strategies, including experience supporting both Canadian and U.S. benefits programs
- CPHR and/or CEBS designation is preferred
Once here, you'll:
- Own the end-to-end administration of Canadian and U.S. benefits programs, ensuring accuracy, compliance, governance, and a seamless employee experience
- Support employees through key moments such as onboarding, life events, disability claims, leaves of absence, return-to-work processes, and acquisition-related transitions
- Partner closely with Payroll and vendors to ensure accurate deductions, reconciliations, RRSP and 401(k) administration, vendor payments, and service delivery
- Support annual renewals, enrollment processes, employee wellness initiatives, and ongoing program improvements based on data, trends, and employee insights
- Identify and implement process and system improvements while ensuring legislative compliance, managing risk, supporting audits, and maintaining effective controls across all benefits programs
