About the role

The DEI & Culture Development Lead plays a strategic role in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion across the organization by catalyzing and aligning initiatives that strengthen governance, membership engagement, and organizational culture.

The role ensures that DEI-related priorities identified in the Strategic Plan are operationalized into sustainable practices and involves working collaboratively across departments and divisions, with the Staff, Board, volunteers, and members.

This role functions as a cross-organizational connector, enabling alignment, integration, and measurable impact across the organization. They also assist with the planning of culture development events within the DEI realm for staff, volunteers and members.

CCPA’s DEI and Culture Development Lead reports to CCPA’s Executive Advisor/Risk Management Director.

Key Responsibilities and Duties: Lead the implementation and coordination of DEI and culture initiatives aligned with the Strategic Plan, translating priorities into sustainable, actionable plans with measurable impact Embed an equity lens into policies, procedures, and operational practices to support long-term organizational sustainability Identify systemic barriers, inequities, and organizational risks, and recommend proactive, evidence-based mitigation strategies Conduct research and analyze data to inform DEI initiatives impacting staff, members, and the profession Develop, monitor and evaluate DEI metrics, dashboards, and key indicators to track progress, sustainability, and impact Act as a cross-organizational connector to integrate DEI activities and enhance collaboration across teams Partner with HR, Communications & Events, The Advocacy Team, and other internal functions to strengthen inclusive practices, develop messaging, and support coordinated initiatives Coordinate engagement with internal and external stakeholders, including consultants and partners Convene and facilitate cross-functional meetings, stakeholder sessions, and dialogue opportunities to support engagement and culture development Plan and execute engagement initiatives, cultural observances, and culture-building events that enhance awareness, accessibility, and member/staff experience Provide guidance on sensitive or complex matters related to equity, inclusion, accessibility, and organizational culture Prepare insights, briefings, reports, presentations, and recommendations for leadership and Board decision-making Explore and apply innovative tools, practices, and engagement models that enhance accessibility, participation, and organizational resilience Perform other related duties in support of organizational priorities What You'll Bring: Post-secondary education in a related field such as sociology, social sciences, political science, humanities, human resources, or a similar field 3+ years of relevant experience preferably in a nonprofit or professional association A graduate certificate, specialized training, or professional certification in DEI, organizational development, or culture Experience or knowledge of the mental health field and the Counselling and Psychotherapy profession is considered an asset Experience addressing complex equity, diversity and human rights issues, traditionally acquired through lived experience as a member of an equity-deserving group is an asset Experience coordinating initiatives and events with multiple stakeholders, including setting priorities, timelines, deliverables, and general event management Strong understanding of contemporary DEI and accessibility concepts, practices, and emerging issues within a Canadian context, including reconciliation Ability to research, analyze, and translate data and best practices into actionable insights and recommendations Demonstrate neutrality and be aware of ideological biases when conducting research and analyzing data as well as recommending solutions Strong analytical, organizational, administration, and project-management skills Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work as an engaged and effective member of a team Ability to navigate ambiguous situations successfully Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines Ability to problem-solve creatively and propose innovative solutions Proficiency in the MS Office Suite of products Specifications: Location 202-245 Menten Place, Ottawa, ON, K2H 9E8 Work Model Hybrid: 2 days in office/week Employment Type Permanent Full-Time, Salary Hours of Work Mon – Fri, 37.5 hours/week Compensation $66,500 - $90,000 (Pay Band) annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience + Comprehensive benefits & GRSP matching Language English, French is considered an asset
