The Role: 

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for providing guidance and support on all issues related to Human Resources for both the Marine and Industrial divisions, including Recruitment & Talent Acquisition, Compensation & Benefits, Performance Management, Learning and Development, Employee Relations and Engagement, Compliance and legal, and HR strategy and Workforce Planning. The HR Generalist will be an effective communicator, a natural leader, able to multitask and prioritize with ease, organized and knowledgeable on HR practices and experienced with employee relations, all while being able to successfully balance employee needs with business objectives to create integrated solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support all HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and performance management. 
  • Lead recruitment efforts for positions at all levels, including management and leadership roles. 
  • Coordinate onboarding, orientation, and employee training plans with hiring managers. 
  • Draft employment agreements and support promotions, transfers, and organizational changes. 
  • Assist with policy development, compliance, employment legislation, and HR best practices. 
  • Support workforce planning, succession planning, and employee development initiatives. 
  • Partner with managers on performance management, investigations, terminations, and layoffs. 
  • Assist with benefits administration, employee wellness programs, and employee support. 
  • Analyze HR metrics and trends to support business decisions and organizational growth. 
  • Champion employee engagement, workplace culture, retention, and morale across the organization.

 

What You Bring

  • Diploma, certificate, or degree in Human Resources or a related field. 
  • 3+ years of progressive HR experience in a generalist role. 
  • Proven experience with recruitment, employee relations, and performance management. 
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation, disability management, and workers' compensation. 
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now, Payworks, or similar HRIS platforms. 
  • CPHR designation (or working toward) is an asset. 
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities. 
  • Confident relationship builder with coaching and influencing abilities. 
  • Proactive, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement.
