Job Description FLINT is seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator for our Calgary office. In this critical role, you will ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll while maintaining compliance with federal and provincial legislation, company policies, and payroll best practices. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will be a trusted payroll partner, supporting employees and leaders across the organization through exceptional service, accurate reporting, and payroll expertise. What would you be doing? Payroll Administration & Processing Administer and process union and non-union weekly payroll for employees and contractors, ensuring accurate and timely payments, deductions, direct deposits, and payroll adjustments. Review payroll data for accuracy and completeness, resolving discrepancies before payroll processing deadlines. Process employee status changes, earnings adjustments, taxable benefits, and deductions in accordance with company policies and legislative requirements. Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely, professional, and confidential manner. Compliance & Record Management Maintain payroll records and employee files in compliance with legislative requirements, audit standards, and confidentiality protocols. Ensure adherence to federal and provincial payroll legislation, including employment standards and tax regulations. Prepare and remit payroll-related filings, including source deductions, payroll taxes, TD1 forms, Records of Employment (ROEs), and year-end tax documentation. Support internal and external payroll audits by providing accurate records and supporting documentation. Reporting & Reconciliation Reconcile payroll accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure financial accuracy. Prepare payroll journal entries and support month-end and year-end financial reporting activities. Assist with annual bonus processing and other compensation-related initiatives. Generate regular and ad hoc payroll reports for internal stakeholders and leadership teams. Systems & Process Improvement Monitor payroll systems and processes to ensure data accuracy and operational efficiency. Audit payroll reports to identify and correct errors or inconsistencies. Liaise with payroll system vendors and internal departments to resolve issues and implement system improvements. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance payroll processes, reporting, and compliance. Minimum 5 years of progressive payroll experience in a computerized payroll environment. Canadian Payroll Association (National Payroll Institute) certification is considered an asset. Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation, taxation, employment standards, and payroll compliance requirements. Experience with UKG and IFS systems is considered an asset. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict payroll deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
