About the role

Who we are At illumin, we are transforming the advertising landscape. Our platform offers an integrated space for journey planning, execution, and reporting. It empowers marketers to connect with their audiences in powerful ways through real-time data and easy-to-use visual tools. By seamlessly combining media planning and buying in an intuitive interface, marketers can take complete control of their campaigns, meeting customers wherever they are in the buying journey and maximizing the impact of their ad spend through personalized insights for smarter decision-making. We are at a pivotal moment, evolving into a product-led company with a team of over 100 skilled professionals and new leadership guiding our path forward. By harnessing the power of data, advancing our AI capabilities, and deeply investing in our people, we are preparing for a future that will redefine what’s possible in journey advertising. Our work is guided by two beliefs: that the ability to execute is paramount to success and that we are only as good as our people. As we grow and transform, we are looking for team members (illumineers) who share our bias for speed, delivery over perfection, and an entrepreneurial mindset. Joining us now is a chance to be part of our transformation.

Who we need Reporting to the HR team, we are hiring a Talent Partner to help build the next chapter of talent acquisition at illumin. As our first dedicated Talent Specialist, you will play a key role in transforming how we attract, hire, and onboard exceptional talent. You will own full-cycle recruitment for a portfolio of roles while acting as the primary partner to our external recruitment partners, helping to strengthen relationships, improve hiring processes, and deliver an exceptional experience for both candidates and hiring managers. Beyond recruitment, you will own the candidate journey from offer acceptance through onboarding and the first 90 days of employment. Working closely with HR, hiring managers, and cross-functional teams, you will ensure every new hire has the tools, support, and experience they need to thrive from day one. This is a hybrid opportunity, working from our downtown Toronto office, located just minutes from St. Andrew and Union stations. If you're excited about building processes, partnering with leaders, and creating exceptional candidate and employee experiences, we'd love to hear from you.

What's in it for you An opportunity to build something new. This isn't a role where you'll inherit an established talent acquisition function. You'll help shape how we hire, strengthen our partnerships with external recruiters, improve recruitment processes, and build scalable hiring practices that support our continued growth. Ownership across the entire employee journey. Recruitment doesn't stop when an offer is signed. You'll own the experience from first conversation through onboarding and the first 90 days, helping ensure every new hire feels welcomed, supported, and set up for success. A true partnership with the business. You'll work closely with hiring managers across the organization, learning how different teams operate and helping them attract exceptional talent. You'll become a trusted advisor, providing guidance on hiring strategies, candidate experience, and recruitment best practices.

How you will make an impact Own full-cycle recruitment. You'll manage recruitment for a portfolio of roles across the organization, partnering with hiring managers to understand business needs, develop recruitment strategies, source talent, coordinate interviews, prepare offers, and guide candidates through every stage of the hiring process. Become a trusted hiring partner. You'll build strong relationships with hiring managers, helping them define hiring needs, prepare for interviews, evaluate talent, and make informed hiring decisions. You'll provide thoughtful recommendations that align with illumin's values, business goals, and long-term talent needs. Lead our recruitment partnerships. You'll become the primary point of contact for our external recruitment agencies, building strong relationships, coordinating searches, monitoring performance, and ensuring agencies consistently deliver high-quality candidates while identifying opportunities to improve our hiring process. Create an exceptional candidate experience. You'll understand that every interaction shapes our employer brand. You'll communicate proactively, keep candidates informed throughout the hiring process, and create a positive, professional experience whether or not someone ultimately joins illumin. Own the transition from candidate to employee. Once an offer is accepted, you'll become the primary point of contact for new hires. You'll coordinate background checks, employment documentation, onboarding logistics, equipment requests, and everything needed to ensure a seamless first day. Support successful onboarding and retention. You'll partner with hiring managers to develop onboarding plans, coordinate orientation activities, and conduct 30-, 60-, and 90-day check-ins to gather feedback, identify opportunities for improvement, and help new employees successfully integrate into the business. Continuously improve how we hire. As our first Talent Specialist, you'll identify opportunities to streamline recruitment processes, improve onboarding, strengthen our employer brand, and build scalable talent acquisition practices that support the future growth of illumin. Build talent. You'll proactively develop talent pipelines for future hiring needs by leveraging LinkedIn and other sourcing tools, building relationships with post-secondary institutions, supporting internship and early-career hiring initiatives, and contributing to employer branding and career page enhancements.

What you bring: You have 3–5 years of experience in talent acquisition, recruitment, or a related role, with experience managing full-cycle recruitment across multiple positions simultaneously. You know how to build strong relationships with hiring managers and become a trusted partner throughout the hiring process. You have experience sourcing candidates, conducting phone screens, coordinating interviews, extending offers, and managing candidates through the entire recruitment lifecycle. You have worked with external recruitment agencies or other hiring partners and understand how to build productive relationships and keep searches moving efficiently. You're organized without losing the human touch. You can manage multiple searches and deadlines while keeping candidates informed and hiring managers supported. Nothing falls through the cracks, and people know they can rely on you. You're curious and always looking to improve. You enjoy finding better ways of working, streamlining processes, and creating scalable solutions that help teams hire more effectively. You are highly organized and thrive when managing multiple priorities, balancing competing deadlines without sacrificing attention to detail. You have excellent communication skills and know how to create a positive experience for candidates, hiring managers, and colleagues alike. You enjoy improving processes and are always looking for ways to make recruitment and onboarding more efficient and scalable. You're comfortable learning new technologies and have experience working with an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
