About the role

Job Description

As the HR Coordinator – Health, Safety & Leave Programs, you will play a key role in coordinating and supporting core people programs across Fleetway.

This is a mid-level HR coordination role (2–5 years experience ) suited to someone who has exposure to either health & safety or HR operations (leave, accommodations, HR coordination) and is looking to build broader capability across both areas.

You are not expected to be a subject matter expert in all areas—but you bring a strong foundation in coordination, compliance, and working within structured processes.

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, you will work closely with the HR Business Partner, leaders, and external partners to ensure our programs are consistent, compliant, and executed to a high standard.

What This Role Is (and Is Not):

  • This is a hands-on coordination role focused on tracking, documentation, and follow-through.
  • This is not a senior safety advisor or standalone HRBP role.
  • You will work closely with experienced HR professionals who provide direction and support.

Responsibilities

What You Will Do:

You will coordinate and support key programs, including:

Occupational Health & Safety (OHS)

  • Coordinate JOHSC activities, documentation, and reporting
  • Support inspections, workplace assessments, and follow-ups
  • Track OHS metrics, training completion, and compliance requirements
  • Assist with workers’ compensation administration and reporting Leave Management & Return to Work
  • Coordinate employee leave processes (disability, EI, unpaid leave)
  • Support return-to-work planning with HRBP and Disability Case Manager
  • Help facilitate workplace accommodations and ergonomic assessments
  • Act as a coordination point between employees, leaders, and external providers Employee Experience & Operations
  • Coordinate training tracking and employee initiatives
  • Maintain accurate data, reporting, and program tracking
  • Support purchasing and administrative processes related to HR programs
  • Promote and administer our employee recognition platform What Success Looks Like (First 6–12 Months)
  • You take ownership of tracking and coordinating JOHSC and safety documentation
  • You support active employee leave files with accuracy and professionalism
  • You become a reliable point of contact for maintaining HR and safety tracking
  • You build strong working relationships and help ensure processes are followed consistently

Qualifications

You are organized, proactive, and comfortable balancing process, people, and judgment.

You bring:

  • Strong coordination and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion.
  • Confidence to follow up and ensure processes are adhered to.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Qualifications:

Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Occupational Health & Safety, Business, or related field. 2–5 years of experience, with: Experience in at least one core area (OHS coordination, leave/disability, workers’ compensation, or accommodations), and, Exposure to one or more of the others. If your experience is stronger in one area, you bring relevant education and a demonstrated ability to learn quickly. Strong Excel and HRIS experience. Experience coordinating processes across multiple stakeholders is an asset.
