Director of People & Culture

Location: Whitehorse, Yukon

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic
Director of People & Culture to lead and manage all aspects of our human resources function. This role is critical in supporting a workforce of 200+ employees across multiple project sites, ensuring alignment between people strategies and operational goals while fostering a strong, safety-focused, and collaborative culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of People & Culture strategies aligned with company growth and operational needs

  • Partner with executive leadership, operations, and site teams to support workforce planning and organizational structure

  • Lead full-cycle Human Resources functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and offboarding

  • Screen resumes, conduct interviews, and support company-wide hiring decisions

  • Oversee employee onboarding packages and annual updates

  • Administer HRIS and collect employee documentation for payroll processing

  • Conduct performance discussions, disciplinary processes, and terminations in compliance with Yukon legislation

  • Identify and coordinate training and professional development opportunities

  • Oversee recruitment strategies and hiring processes for both field and office positions

  • Develop and maintain workforce plans to support project timelines, crew rotations, and mobilization needs

  • Collaborate with operations, logistics, and project teams to ensure effective onboarding and integration of employees across job sites

  • Provide leadership and guidance on employee relations, performance management, and conflict resolution

  • Foster a positive, respectful, and safety-first workplace culture across all levels of the organization

  • Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and best practices

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable employment legislation and regulations

  • Oversee compensation, benefits, and total rewards programs

  • Support training, development, and succession planning initiatives

  • Lead and mentor the HR team, setting priorities and driving performance

  • Monitor HR metrics and provide reporting to support decision-making and continuous improvement

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in the private sector

  • Experience in construction, mining, or remote/industrial environments considered an asset

  • Strong knowledge of Canadian employment legislation

  • Proven ability to support a large, distributed workforce

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems

  • Ability to work both strategically and hands-on

Work Schedule & Details

  • Occasional travel to job sites may be required
  • Availability to support operational needs, including occasional after-hours situations
