POSITION SUMMARY
The People Services Specialist is a key member of the People & Culture team, providing HR operational support across the organization. This role supports recruitment and selection, employee and labour relations, HR policy and program administration, performance management, and employee engagement initiatives.
Leveraging strong interpersonal skills, sound judgement, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, this position helps ensure accurate execution of HR processes and contributes to a positive workplace.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Lead full-cycle recruitment activities within the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), including preparing job postings, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, conducting reference checks, and preparing employment offers.
- Provide guidance and support to leaders and employees on labour relations, performance management, workplace concerns, conflict resolution, and progressive discipline.
- Participate in committees, including the Human Rights Committee, supporting formal workplace investigations and case management activities.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee files including updates within the HR system for onboarding, employment changes, performance documentation, and salary administration records.
- Complete investigations regarding employee performance, human rights complaints, and interpersonal conflicts and prepare reports with recommendations to leadership utilizing best practices, legislative requirements, and CBA interpretation where required.
- Promote employee engagement and culture initiatives by coordinating recognition programs, and planning events and activities throughout the year.
- Assist with reviewing salary benchmarks and internal equity considerations to help ensure fair and consistent employment offers.
- Support the development, implementation, and ongoing review of HR policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with key people processes and organizational requirements, including onboarding, new hire feedback checkpoints, and exit interviews.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of HR experience with a focus on employee and labour relations, as well as recruitment and selection.
- Strong working knowledge of HR legislation, employment standards, and HR best practices.
- Experience maintaining Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, OneNote, and Teams.
- Ability to stay organized in a high-volume environment and shift priorities quickly as needed.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders.
