About The Role
At Avana, our people are the foundation of our success. We're looking for a Talent Acquisition & Onboarding Specialist who is passionate about attracting exceptional talent and creating an outstanding candidate and new employee experience.
Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, this role leads full-cycle recruitment and onboarding across the organization while partnering closely with hiring managers to attract and hire exceptional talent, build strong candidate pipelines, and continuously improve our recruitment and onboarding processes. This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping how we attract, hire, and welcome talented people to Avana as we continue to grow.
What You’ll Do
Attract & Recruit Top Talent
Lead full-cycle recruitment across the organization. Partner with hiring managers to understand hiring needs and develop effective recruitment strategies. Source, screen, and identify high-quality candidates through a variety of recruitment channels. Build and maintain talent pipelines to support current and future hiring needs. Deliver an exceptional recruitment experience through proactive communication and strong partnerships with candidates and hiring managers. Conduct interviews, complete reference checks, prepare employment offers, and coordinate pre-employment activities. Promote equitable and consistent hiring practices throughout the selection process.
Lead Onboarding & New Employee Integration
Coordinate onboarding activities that ensure new employees feel welcomed, prepared, and set up for success. Prepare onboarding documentation and coordinate orientation, benefit and pension enrolment, and probation processes. Partner with hiring managers to support a successful transition into the organization.
Drive Recruitment Excellence
Develop and maintain job descriptions and job postings. Maintain accurate recruitment records, reporting, and applicant tracking throughout the hiring process. Monitor recruitment metrics and identify opportunities to improve hiring outcomes and recruitment effectiveness. Continuously improve recruitment and onboarding processes while supporting Avana's employer brand.
What You Bring
3+ years of progressive experience in talent acquisition or full-cycle recruitment. Experience recruiting for a variety of positions and partnering with hiring managers throughout the hiring process. Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to partner effectively with hiring managers and candidates. Excellent communication and interviewing skills with the ability to assess candidates and deliver an exceptional candidate experience. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple recruitment processes and competing priorities. Experience using an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and other recruitment technologies. Knowledge of Canadian employment legislation, equitable hiring practices, and recruitment best practices. A proactive, collaborative approach with a passion for attracting top talent and continuously improving recruitment and onboarding processes.
