Human Resources Co-op Student
About the role
Job Summary: This role is to assist the Human Resources department in day to day activities and Environmental Health and Safety tasks in a manufacturing environment.
Required Qualifications
Pursuing a University or College degree in Human Resources Strong communicator in the English language, both written and verbal Proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Excellent organizational and time management skills Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills
Critical Success Factors
Learn the business, understand the production process by walking the floor & participating in production meetings Ability to work independently without supervision and with minimum direction Ability to work in a team environment and be both a team player and team leader Ability to manage and direct subordinates on the day-to-day tasks in a fast paced environment Adopt a common sense approach to identifying and addressing problems and control weaknesses Ensure that all duties and tasks are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and at no time is the employee or their co-workers placed in an unsafe condition
Responsibilities
Must work in accordance with Health & Safety regulations, Martinrea Industrial Canada rules, policies and procedures Must use or wear equipment, protective devices or clothing as required by Martinrea Industrial Canada Help maintain HRIS; enter new hires, process pay changes, etc. Help with recruitment activities of all personnel Help track employee headcount/manning Organize employee events and activities at site level Maintain training records for all employees Help employees with questions and concerns regarding but not limited to hourly pay, benefits, health and safety Help maintain employee communication boards Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following; Health and safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook Must understand the six elements of the Quality System, Record Retention, Document Control, Non-conforming Material, Corrective Action, Preventative Action and internal audits as well as department procedures.
Working Conditions
Both office setting and production environment Constant communication with employees, peers, and management
Effort/Physical Demands
Ability to work on computer for long periods of time Ability to be present on the production floor on a daily basis
Health And Safety Responsibilities
Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company Rules, Plant Rules, policies and procedures Must use or wear personal protective equipment and certain clothing as required by the Company
