The Opportunity

Lead with purpose across Canada’s most dynamic natural landscapes.

WSP is seeking a Group Manager, Wildlife to lead our Prairies & North Wildlife team, part of the Ecology and EIA business. Reporting to the Director of Ecology and EIA, this is a dual role where you will provide both people leadership and technical expertise, supporting a diverse portfolio of projects that range in type, size, and complexity.

You will lead a high-performing wildlife team delivering innovative, science-based solutions across infrastructure, mining, energy, and environmental projects. Based in Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina, or Winnipeg, you will play a critical role in shaping strategy, strengthening team performance, and growing WSP’s wildlife services across the region.


Your Impact

  • Support the wildlife team, including prioritization, workload organization, and meeting project targets.
  • Lead people practices: mentorship, career development, performance management, and HR activities (reviews, hiring, onboarding/offboarding).
  • Partner with the Director to drive financial performance, monitor results, and implement improvements.
  • Communicate and uphold company policies, fostering collaboration across teams and WSP Business Lines while reinforcing Guiding Principles and Vision.
  • Create a safe, positive environment with a strong commitment to health and safety.
  • Contribute to team and business success through weekly team meetings, client relationship building, and business development activities.

The Skills That Set You Apart

  • Undergraduate degree in Biology, Ecology, or related discipline
  • Minimum 8+ years of relevant consulting experience
  • Demonstrated success managing teams and delivering complex wildlife or ecological projects
  • Strong knowledge of wildlife regulations, permitting processes, and environmental assessment frameworks in Western and Northern Canada
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships and support business development
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to technical excellence, including proposal and report writing
  • Professional designation (e.g., R.P.Biol., P.Biol., or equivalent) or eligibility
  • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $104,100 – $139,900 MB & ON: $95,000 – $132,600 NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $94,000 – $126,700
