We are looking for an experienced and people-focused HR Manager to join our team for up to 18-month maternity leave coverage. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic HR professional to lead the organization's people function, partner with leaders across the business, and continue building an exceptional employee experience.
We anticipate the start date to be mid-September.
About The Role
The HR Manager serves to provide leadership and oversight for all human resources functions. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with provincial employment legislation, developing people strategies that support organizational growth, and fostering an engaging, high-performing workplace culture.
Through leadership of the HR function, oversight of employee experience and culture, recruitment, performance management, benefits administration, and support of administrative office operations across multiple locations, the HR Manager ensures consistent people and workplace practices that enable operational excellence and support the organization's long-term success.
Reporting to the CEO, this position provides leadership to the HR Coordinator and Administrative Assistant while partnering closely with leaders across the organization.
While this is a maternity leave coverage position, we are looking for someone who is excited to make a meaningful impact from day one and become a trusted member of our leadership team throughout the duration of the contract.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
3+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including leadership responsibilities.
Strong knowledge of Canadian employment legislation, with experience supporting multiple provinces considered a strong asset.
Experience leading recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and organizational development initiatives.
Experience administering group benefits and HRIS systems (BambooHR experience is an asset).
Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
Strong organizational and project management abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Responsibilities
HR Leadership & Operations: Lead the day-to-day HR function across separate corporate entities. Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to the HR Coordinator and Administrative Assistant. Partner with leaders to provide HR guidance, coaching, and practical solutions. Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, systems, and overall operational effectiveness.
Recruitment & Workforce Planning: Oversee full-cycle recruitment and workforce planning across multiple provinces. Partner with hiring managers and the HR Coordinator to attract and hire top talent. Monitor recruitment metrics, pipelines, and hiring effectiveness. Ensure recruitment practices comply with provincial legislation and company standards.
Employee Relations & Performance Management: Provide guidance on employee relations, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation. Coach managers on performance management, employee development, and corrective action. Lead performance review processes, onboarding milestones, and talent assessment initiatives.
Employee Experience, Culture & Engagement: Champion a positive, inclusive, and engaging workplace culture. Lead monthly All Staff meetings and Quarterly Business Review Meetings. Analyze monthly wellbeing survey results and develop action plans with leadership. Lead semi-annual eNPS surveys and employee engagement initiatives. Support quarterly social events and company culture initiatives.
Benefits Administration: Administer the company's Manulife group benefits program. Support employee enrollments, changes, and benefit inquiries. Manage vendor relationships and conduct semi-annual benefit audits.
HR Compliance & Policy Management: Ensure compliance with employment legislation across five Canadian provinces. Develop, review, and update HR policies, procedures, and documentation as needed. Maintain HR systems including BambooHR and employee records, alongside the HR Coordinator. Monitor legislative changes and recommend policy updates as needed.
Onboarding & Offboarding: Oversee onboarding and offboarding programs to ensure a seamless employee experience. Conduct exit interviews and identify trends for continuous improvement.
Administrative Operations Support: Provide leadership and support to the Administrative Assistant responsible for office operations. Support/oversee administrative processes across locations, including facilities, fleet administration, travel coordination, and workplace services. Identify opportunities to improve administrative processes and the overall employee workplace experience.
What You'll Bring
A Bachelor's degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
At least 3 years of progressive HR experience, including leadership responsibilities.
Strong knowledge of Canadian employment legislation, with experience supporting multiple provinces being a strong asset.
Proven experience in recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and organizational development initiatives.
Experience administering group benefits and HRIS systems (BambooHR experience is preferred).
Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
Strong organizational and project management capabilities.
Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
