About the role

The Part-Time HR / Payroll Administrator supports day-to-day payroll and HR administration across a busy multi-location crop retail network. This role ensures accuracy, consistency, and compliance across all sites while working within established HR and payroll processes. This position focuses on operational HR and payroll delivery and collaborates with internal resources when support is needed for matters outside the day-to-day scope. The successful candidate will be comfortable supporting a diverse frontline workforce and navigating seasonal fluctuations typical in agricultural retail. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

Key Responsibilities:

*Payroll Administration *

  • Process accurate and timely payroll for employees across multiple locations, including hourly, salaried, and seasonal staff
  • Coordinate payroll inputs from location managers, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Maintain employee payroll records, including hires, terminations, wage changes, and job transfers between locations
  • Administer vacation accruals, statutory holiday pay, and other payroll-related entitlements
  • Prepare and submit ROEs, T4s, and year-end payroll documentation
  • Respond to general payroll inquiries from employees and managers
  • Ensure payroll practices remain compliant with provincial legislation
  • Identify items requiring additional review and work with internal contacts to ensure they are handled appropriately

Human Resources Administration

  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding for employees across multiple sites
  • Maintain centralized, confidential employee files and HR records
  • Support recruitment activities, including job postings, screening coordination, and interview scheduling
  • Assist with benefits administration and respond to routine employee inquiries
  • Track mandatory Health & Safety training, certifications, and compliance requirements
  • Support performance management documentation and HR processes
  • Assist with the administration and communication of HR policies and procedures
  • Prepare HR and payroll reports for management, identifying trends or inconsistencies
  • Support internal audits and help ensure consistent application of HR practices across locations.
  • Serve as a first point of contact for administrative HR and payroll questions, directing more complex or sensitive matters through the appropriate HR resource channels

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Post-secondary education or certification in Human Resources, Payroll, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in payroll and/or HR administration
  • Experience in agriculture, manufacturing, logistics, or retail environments is an asset
  • Strong working knowledge of employment standards and payroll legislation
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple locations
  • High degree of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Clear and effective communication with both managers and employees
  • Flexible and adaptable to seasonal business demands

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $24.00-$26.00 per hour
