We are actively hiring a Payroll Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will bring exceptional attention to detail and hands-on experience processing payroll across multiple Canadian entities and pay cycles. This role is critical to ensuring payroll accuracy, legislative compliance, and timely delivery in a deadline-driven environment, with some exposure to U.S. payroll coordination.
Responsibilities:
- Process payroll for salaried and hourly employees across bi-weekly and semi-monthly pay cycles
- Prepare and process monthly employee expense reports
- Calculate, remit, and reconcile payroll deductions, including statutory withholdings, Employer Health Tax (EHT), Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) premiums, and union dues
- Prepare and file payroll-related documents, including T4s, Records of Employment (ROEs), and WCB filings
- Support year-end payroll activities, including T4 preparation and reconciliation
- Prepare payroll journal entries and perform payroll and GL reconciliations
- Ensure compliance with employment standards and payroll legislation across British Columbia and Alberta
- Coordinate or support U.S. payroll processing for Washington State, as applicable
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and provide administrative and payroll support to management as needed
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in payroll or an accounting-related role in Canada
- Experience processing multi-entity payrolls with multiple pay cycles
- Strong working knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and statutory remittances
- Proven ability to work accurately under pressure and meet strict payroll deadlines
- High attention to detail, particularly with numerical and financial data
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Self-motivated team player with a strong willingness to learn and adapt
Bonus Qualifications/Assets:
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation or in progress
- Experience using ADP Workforce Now
- Experience working with unionised employee payroll
