We are currently looking to gather applicants for a Human Resources Manager in North Bay for one of our partnered Long Term Care homes.

POSITION SUMMARY: Reports to the Chief Financial Officer as part of Senior Management Team. Operationalizes and aligns HR and business strategies while managing core HR programs including employee engagement, workforce planning, recruitment, labour relations, policy development, and HR process optimization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Labour Relations & Compliance Coach managers on collaborative approaches and due diligence in unionized environment; manage grievance procedures; conduct labour/management meetings; participate in contract negotiations; ensure compliance with Ontario Human Rights Code and AODA.

Recruitment & Retention Manage internal and external recruitment, interviewing, and selection in partnership with departmental managers; develop and communicate orientation and training programs; review and update job descriptions and conduct pay surveys; promote diversity and equity in hiring and staff development.

Performance Management Develop and implement employee performance management programs; establish clear expectations and accountability; ensure 100% compliance with annual reviews; monitor probation reviews.

Compensation & Benefits Coordinate job evaluations; ensure job descriptions reflect current responsibilities; manage pay equity; implement and communicate contract changes and benefit updates to staff.

Policies & Procedures Develop and update HR policies; ensure compliance with employment standards legislation; provide direction on collective agreement interpretation and employment law application.

Attendance & Accommodation Manage attendance policy and workplace accommodation in accordance with applicable legislation; coordinate the accommodation process.

Staff Engagement Enhance communication through meetings, newsletters, and open-door policies; organize staff appreciation and recognition events; promote organizational wellness; manage privacy compliance, FIPPA/PHIPA matters, Freedom of Information requests, and privacy breaches.

General Build HR tools, processes, and reports; maintain filing and retrieval systems; participate on committees (OH&S, Early & Safe Return to Work, Labour/Management); supervise HR administrative staff; conduct worker satisfaction surveys; mediate employee relations matters.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: HR degree or diploma from recognized post-secondary institution; CHRP designation or in progress

Experience: Minimum 5 years progressive HR management experience, preferably in unionized institutional setting

Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Expert knowledge of OH&S Act, ESA, Human Rights Code, PHIPA, FIPPA/MFIPPA, Long-Term Care Act
  • Proficient in collective bargaining, grievance procedures, labour relations
  • Strong analytical and HRIS capabilities
  • Exceptional communication, relationship building, and conflict management skills
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Office proficiency
  • Ability to work with interdisciplinary teams, senior staff, and residents professionally and confidentially

Language: Fluent in English; bilingualism is an asset

Physical Demands: Regularly sit, stand, use hands, talk and hear; occasionally lift up to 10 lbs; move up to 25 lbs; requires close and peripheral vision

Work Environment: Moderate noise level; well-lit, heated, ventilated space; must comply with OH&S Act and organizational procedures
