Senior Payroll Specialist – Manufacturing
Location: Pickering, ON Work Model: Full time onsite
About the role: A well-established company is searching for an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to join their team. This role will oversee payroll for 300+ employees across Canada (ON, QC, AB, BC) and the U.S.
It’s a great opportunity for someone with strong payroll expertise who is confident managing complex payroll environments, including salaried, hourly, and temporary employees.
Core Responsibilities: As Senior Payroll Specialist, you will:
Manage full-cycle payroll for Canadian and U.S. employees (weekly and bi-weekly), including overtime, bonuses, and commissions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legislation and company policies. Oversee payroll tax compliance, filings, year-end reporting (T4s, T2200), and statutory remittances (EHT, WSIB, Workers’ Comp, etc.). Calculate and process commissions and bonuses in line with company agreements. Review and process travel and expense claims, ensuring proper documentation and policy compliance. Monitor time and attendance system, resolve discrepancies, and provide reporting to management. Support benefits administration, including deductions, remittances, and employee inquiries. Maintain accurate payroll records, generate reports, and support internal/external audits. Provide employee support for payroll, benefits, onboarding, and verifications. Leverage payroll systems to improve efficiency, standardize processes, and recommend system enhancements. Assist HR with policy implementation and ensure payroll practices align with legal and company requirements. Support additional projects and duties as needed.
Minimum Requirements: PCP Certification 5+ years of payroll experience in Ontario Experience processing the payroll for QC, AB, BC or US is advantageous Experience within the manufacturing industry would be beneficial Experience with salaried, hourly and temp payroll processing Experience with payroll software such as Ceridian or ADP Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving Knowledge of tax compliance, benefits administration, and timekeeping systems is a plus Willing and able to commute to the office 5 days a week.
