We’re looking for an HR Business Partner to join our corporate team. This role plays a key part in supporting leaders across Canada, with a focus on employee relations, performance management, and strategic HR initiatives.
As an HRBP, you will: Provide coaching and guidance to leaders on employee relations, including investigations, discipline, terminations, and legal matters Manage organizational change processes and support performance reviews, calibration sessions, and succession planning Execute employee programs developed by HR Centres of Excellence and support rollouts from Talent Management and Learning & Development Partner with Talent Acquisition on recruitment and selection, and advise on compensation decisions for new hires, promotions, and transfers Administer Total Rewards programs (salary, benefits, pension, incentives) and support the annual salary review and incentive processes Collaborate with Integrated Health Management on employee leaves (WCB, STD, LTD) and return-to-work coordination Liaise with legal counsel on employment-related matters and attend mediations as needed What you bring: 5–8 years of progressive HR experience with strong generalist knowledge across core HR functions Proven ability to build strong business relationships and influence stakeholders across a matrixed environment Strategic mindset with solid understanding of human behavior, business operations, and organizational strategy Skilled in performance and talent processes, including calibration sessions, succession planning, and engagement initiatives Strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain strict confidentiality in all HR matters Knowledge of compensation and recruitment practices; CPHR designation or working toward it is preferred Bilingual in French and English as the candidate supports employees and collaborate with peers across provinces (The candidate will be expected to work with peers in other provinces in the development and implementation of tools and processes across Canada, as well as provide support to Sobeys employees across Canada) #LI-MM1#LI-Hybrid Who we are Sobeys is one of Canada’s leading grocery retailers, with more than 1,600 stores across all 10 provinces and banners including Sobeys, Safeway, IGA, Foodland, FreshCo, Thrifty Foods, and Lawtons Drug Stores.
