We are a high end Luxury Retailer with our head office in Greater Vancouver. We are on the hunt for our next HR Manager to lead our Canada and US operations. About the Role We are looking for an experienced and hands-on HR Manager to join our Vancouver team and support employees in Canada and the US. Reporting to Senior Leadership, this role will oversee a broad range of HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, payroll, benefits, compliance, reporting, and HR operations. The HR Manager will partner closely with leadership and managers to provide practical HR guidance, support business objectives, and ensure effective and consistent people practices. Key Responsibilities: Leadership & HR Operations Partner with leadership to align HR programs and practices with business objectives, organizational performance, and employee engagement. Act as a trusted advisor to leadership and managers on people-related decisions, organizational design, workforce planning, and change management. Develop, maintain, and continuously improve HR policies, procedures, and governance frameworks. Ensure compliance with applicable Canadian and US employment legislation and HR best practices, and recommend updates as requirements evolve. Monitor key HR metrics, including turnover, time-to-fill, engagement, and absence trends, and provide workforce insights to leadership. Lead HR meetings and ensure effective day-to-day HR operations. Talent Management & Employee Experience Lead full-cycle recruitment, including workforce planning, sourcing, interviewing, compensation discussions, offer negotiation, and onboarding. Partner with management on role scope, job descriptions, compensation bands, and employment agreements. Build and maintain a proactive talent pipeline to support business growth. Design and continuously improve onboarding programs to support employee integration, productivity, and retention. Lead the annual and probationary performance management processes and support managers with performance discussions and documentation. Support career development, succession planning, and identification of organizational skill gaps. Coordinate training and development initiatives, including compliance and leadership training. Lead or support employee engagement initiatives, surveys, and related action plans. Employee Relations & Compliance Provide strategic and practical guidance to employees and managers on employee relations, workplace concerns, policies, and performance matters. Lead the annual performance management cycle and manager training. Oversee the fair and consistent application of disciplinary and grievance processes. Manage sensitive employee matters, including workplace incidents, harassment or discrimination complaints, and other confidential issues. Conduct and document workplace investigations using thorough, consistent, and procedurally fair practices. Advise managers on performance improvement plans, terminations, and appropriate documentation. Manage employee termination and exit processes, including final pay and required documentation, consulting legal counsel when appropriate. Support immigration-related processes by coordinating documentation, timelines, and employee communications. HR Administration & Systems Ensure accurate and compliant employee records, including contracts, offer letters, employee documentation, and personnel files. Manage and optimize HR systems, including BambooHR, absence tracking, reporting, and workflow automation. Administer and communicate employee benefits, PTO, sick leave, WFH allowances, and other employee programs. Support benefits renewals, vendor coordination, and implementation of new programs. Maintain HR policies, employee handbooks, and internal HR resources. Lead internal HR communications, including policy updates, benefits communications, and organizational announcements. Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes, improve the employee experience, and increase operational efficiency. Payroll and Compensation Manage accurate and timely bi-monthly payroll, including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, time-off records, benefits deductions, and commissions. Coordinate year-end payroll activities, including T4s, T4As, W-2s, 1099s, remittances, and reconciliations, as applicable. Support compensation benchmarking, salary band reviews, and pay equity initiatives to promote internal fairness and market competitiveness. Support benefits administration, compensation processes, plan renewals, and vendor coordination for Canadian and US employees HR Reporting, Budget & Analytics Prepare monthly HR, payroll, workforce, and compensation reports for leadership and Finance. Maintain HR budgets, forecasts, accruals, and workforce planning files. Monitor HR spending and work with Finance to resolve discrepancies or incorrect coding. Prepare bonus and compensation files and support the annual performance management process. Develop ad hoc reports and workforce analysis for leadership. Support audits, compensation surveys, and other reporting requirements. What we are looking for: 5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in an HR Manager or HR Business Partner role. Strong knowledge of Canadian employment standards, particularly in British Columbia with working knowledge of U.S. employment practices. Experience across employee relations, investigations, performance management, payroll, benefits, recruitment, and compensation. Strong understanding of HR systems, payroll, and reporting. Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills. Strong judgment, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and partner effectively with employees, managers, and senior leadership. A practical, business-focused approach to HR and a continuous improvement mindset. Why Join Us? Candidates should know British Columbia employment standards and have working knowledge of U.S. employment practices, along with strong communication, analytical, organizational, and confidentiality skills.
