Between Employees and Employers, the Vision of the Ideal Company Differs

According to a recent Randstad study, employees and employers do not agree on the criteria that make the ideal business. Explanations.

According to the 2018 Randstad employer brand study, good pay, job security and a good work-family balance are at the top of employee expectations. The workplace atmosphere and career advancement come next. They are criteria of attractiveness that are out of step with the concerns put forward by employers, who more favour financial health, use of the most recent technologies and very good company reputation.

Salary and benefits take first place

Today, for 65% of Canadian employees, what makes a business ideal resides, unsurprisingly, in the level of pay and benefits it offers.

In addition, 35% of those surveyed said they were ready to quit a company due to a lack of challenges, 42% felt that too low pay was a realistic reason to leave, making it the second reason for resigning.

The location…before the workplace atmosphere

In addition, 45% of those surveyed felt that good workplace atmosphere is a factor of attractiveness, a figure slightly higher than in 2017 (44%). On the other hand, when employees were asked the reasons they might stay in a company, harmony with colleagues took fifth place (38%), behind location of the company (43%).

In third place, the balance between private and professional life is an essential criterion for 44% of Canadian employees.

What about career prospects?

Finally, career prospects take fifth place in factors of attractiveness… But be careful, a limited career path is the leading reason for leaving a comp any (43%). Do you want to retain your best people? Give them the opportunity to advance within the company!
