Parents at job interviews

Mom and Dad accompanied you to your first day of school, so why not to the first job interview? According to a survey conducted on behalf of RSM Richter, an accounting and business advisory firm, one in five Canadians thinks that parents should be allowed to attend job interviews with their children. Half the respondents thought that parents should play an important role in their children’s’ career by supporting them, helping them make the right decisions, and proffering advice. It’s well known, of course, that parents always know what is right for their son or daughter (!), so it’s understandable that they would want to get involved. But all the same, a candidate who is told to “sit up straight” in front of a potential employer risks losing some of his or her credibility!
