JOB DESCRIPTION

You shall serve as an agent of influence among the managers assigned to the distribution & logistics department of the Montreal region and the Ottawa plant. You shall provide guidance on issues pertaining to workplace health and safety, training, the CBA, competency development and staffing, and coordinate the activities associated therewith as well as other HC-management-related matters. You shall sit on the management committee. YouMore specifically, the Human Capital Manager:

  • Takes part in and rolls out the HC strategic action plan
  • Provides advice to plant managers in order to foster better communication and more proactive human resource management. Recommends to management and the supervisors the HR management measures that need to be undertaken so that the organization's philosophy and competency requirements may be adequately conveyed
  • Guides management on the CBA and ensures it is being applied in a sensible manner. Manages the grievance settlement process and makes sure the appropriate rules are being enforced
  • Organizes the health and safety action plan and also coordinates operations pertaining to prevention and equipment repair, and tracks these
  • Facilitates the health and safety committee. Ensure work-related accidents are being appropriately handled, while fostering employee rehabilitation
  • Participates in and coordinates organizational development activities (ex: fostering accountability, consolidation teams and performance management)
  • Serve as an agent of change by influencing the way the plant manages its operations and human resources

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Business Administration, major in Human Resources Management or Industrial Relations
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years experience, preferably in the unionized manufacturing sector, as a generalist within the scope of a senior HR position for an organization with 100 to 250 employees
  • Available to travel 2 days per week at our Ottawa facility
  • Member of the CRHA order of certified HR professionals (an asset)
  • Sound command of computer programs: Word, Excel
  • Sound command of spoken and written French and English
  • Having a background steeped in labour relations and organizational development would be an asset
