Job Description

Reporting to the National Return to WorkManager, this position plays a vital role in leading the organization to best in class performance, requiring a significant departure from the status quo. Creative and innovative thinking is required to develop best practices and modify existing procedures. This position may reside in the following locations: any of the following Quebec locations: Montreal, Quebec City, and Ville St Laurent.

  • Provides leadership and guidance to support Operations and Purolator’s Business Partners in the management and administration of CNESST claims and the Early and Safe Return to Work Program, for workplace injuries/illnesses
  • Works in close partnership with the CNESST and key stakeholders to provide effective claims management to improve Purolator's financial performance and experience rating.
  • Strategically prepares and participates in hearings of the Tribunal administrative du travail
  • Oversees reporting and tracking of all workplace injuries into Cority
  • Serves as point of contact for accommodation efforts in cases involving disability; coordinates modified or alternate job search and explores various return to work options in identifying suitable work. Collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure the prompt and effective preparation of individual employee return to work plans, track employee placements and monitor employee activities to assess progress and ensure compliance with return to work restrictions
  • Works collaboratively with the National RTW Manager, to develop a variety of narrative and statistical reports; evaluate workers' compensation costs, trends, and report on the overall effectiveness of the RTW program
  • Actively participates in Operational meetings to provide direction for safe return to work opportunities and to troubleshoot barriers to RTW.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to provide a cost/benefit analysis to determine the most proactive strategy on complex, – return to work cases.
  • Promotes a culture in which injuries are preventable
  • Fosters an atmosphere of collaboration and trust among all workplace parties


  • Exemplifies and consistently demonstrates our core competencies of communication, innovation, change management, relationship building and leadership
  • Strong knowledge in and demonstrated experience in disability management, CNESST claims management, and Return to Work experience (3 - 5 years).
  • Proven negotiation skills to influence positive outcomes
  • Bilingual in French and English
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships as a business partner.
  • Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) or Certified Return to Work Coordinator (CRTWC) preferred.
  • University degree preferably in health care, social sciences or a related discipline
  • Valid Ontario G class driver’s license. Travel is required Excellent organization skills, time management skills, with the ability to manage changing priorities and demanding deadlines.
  • This position requires a strong ability to communicate professionally.
  • Energetic self-starter who is able to take initiative, work with minimum supervision.
  • Well-developed problem solving skills.
  • Experience with SAP an asset
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
