Kids Code Jeunesse (KCJ) is a Canadian charity determined to make sure every child is educated with the skills to thrive, the knowledge to make informed decisions, and the tools they need to use technology to make the world a better place. We work hard to develop and deliver the best computational thinking and coding education, dans les deux langues officielles, in Canada. And our efforts are making an impact.

In the last few years, we have received major grants that allowed us to further build our team, grow exponentially and expand our services and team. This reality has created the need for an HR infrastructure and dynamic people processes and programs that will better support the team in reaching their mission. We are looking for an HR Leader with a mix of generalist and specialist expertise, as well as management experience to help us define and implement the best HR approach to move forward. And this, while providing coaching and counselling to the management team.


Reporting to the President and CFO, the Leader People & Culture is responsible to develop, deploy and measure the people, culture, and internal communications strategy. They will be responsible to ensure continuous development and deployment of best practices in terms of employee relations, talent acquisition, management, development and engagement, compensation, and benefits. They will oversee the outsourcing of HR administrative activities, as well as ensure the respect of labor laws and understand the possible impacts on KCJ. They will develop policies, programs, procedures, and initiatives in alignment with KCJs strategic objectives and mission. They will be responsible to create, diffuse and preserve the employer value proposition and create internal and external engagement.  They will play an advisory and HR business partner role with the President, Leadership Team, People Managers, and employees to favor an optimal management of human resources and the maintenance of a positive work climate. 

What You'll Do:

  • Exercise an HR Business Partner and strategic counselling role with the President and CFO for all files relevant to HR
  • Provide HR leadership and design KCJ's people & culture & communications strategy in alignment with our mission, including a yearly people plan and a yearly communications plan
  • Evaluate the needs and create an evolutive and efficient HR infrastructure, including HR metrics & reporting
  • Build or outsource, evolve, and manage the deployment of value-added people processes & programs, and initiatives, including tools and resources for talent acquisition, onboarding, engagement, management & development, performance, compensation, and diversity & inclusion
  • Educate and coach People Managers in their management responsibilities and the deployment of key people processes & programs
  • Provide support to the Leadership Team concerning the employee resource planning and movements 
  • Supervise and authorize talent acquisition activities according to the salary mass budget, in collaboration with the Finance Manager
  • Oversee the development, keep up to date, and implement HR policies and procedures
  • Oversee health and safety and the coordination and management of all claims
  • Oversee the development of a yearly business cycle including key business and HR activities and dates
  • Oversee the management and contract renewal of the HR administrative activities outsourcing and HR systems
  • Ensure HR data is managed and tracked, including employee records and holidays 
  • Oversee the management and contract renewal of the group insurance plan
  • Establish a clear mechanism to manage and resolve employee related concerns 
  • Oversee the organization and coordination of employee engagement events such as: BBQs, seasonal parties, and employee meetings and team building
  • Standing position and active participant on KCJ's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee

What You Will Need:

  • University degree in Human Resources, labour relations or related field (essential)
  • You have a minimum of ten years in HR of which three are in a role of strategic HR Business Partner and two in Management role. CHRP Title an asset
  • Experience in a non for profit or charity organization, an asset
  • Knowledge and experience of employee relations, talent acquisition and management, training and development planning, compensation cycles and HR systems
  • Experience developing HR and Communications strategies
  • Experience developing, planning, and deploying people processes, policies and internal communications
  • Experience leading HR initiatives
  • Knowledge of labour laws and their application
  • Ability to develop solid work relations at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and relational skills
  • Perfectly bilingual, English and French
  • Ability to treat sensitive information with confidentiality
